What would you guys think if I released a Win32 Ladder Kit for Renegade?

where servers could host there own ladders and/or group together with other servers and share the ladder?

Just toss out your thoughts, not like it is a huge thing to do, since i have it all sitting on my computer right now anyways, and since the WOL ladder basically took a shit on us, it would be a nice way to get some competitive play back in the game, and maybe even deal with it a bit better as far as what people are playing for (as in there would be a way to choose the ladder point calculations).-Dante

...actually, like i said, all i have to do is really make it portable, and make an installer for it, as well as quickly add mySQL support for it as i am sure not everyone has a copy of MS SQL laying around...-Dante

the server currently would require the following to work right...

a. Win32 based
b. MS SQL MSDE 2000 or Standard MS SQL 2000
c. .Net framework (easy one)
d. 4 ports open for private use
e. a bit of sql knowledge (if you gonna have a server, j00 gotta know how to run it)
f. at least a P3, 256m computer
g. an edit to the hosts file (if you don't know what it is, i can't tell you)

simply put, this redirects the servserv to your own computer, then will tell the fds to send all ladder queries to your computer, then they will be caught by the console application that runs (Ren Lad Kit software) and then uploaded to the DB (shared if desired). Now, the tricky part comes when displaying the data, you will have to build your own stuff for that, as i don't have time to develop a ladder site for you. but with some simple db knowledge, you can create a quick site for it in a matter of no time, if not, there are plenty of people that could help you out with it.-Dante

So hopefully more people will come back and play ren, only time will tell. -Stryker
