VGA connection

VGA VGA (Video Graphics Array) is an analogue connection often used on PC's. VGA uses a red, green and blue format much like component and RGB Scarts. VGA will allow almost any resolution used without bandwidth worries unlike DVI. VGA still can provide excellent pictures so it shouldn't be forgotten about, but maybe useful for games console etc.

VGA was commonly used on CRT monitors, however more and more TFT's are being used, making CRT's and VGA fade away slowly. TFT's favour DVI because there is no conversion required (digital in your PC, digital screen). VGA can be often labelled as PC Input which is not entirely true because a lot of PC's can use DVI.

VGA uses a plug called a 15pin, D-Sub. VGA cables must be kept fairly short unless special VGA cables are used, otherwise the picture will look 'washed' out.
