DUKE NUKEM: FOREVER » Glitch insane difficultly

Posted by Roguey on Thursday 2nd May, 2013 · Comment 0 comments

If like me, you started to pull your hair-out when trying to complete Duke Nukem: Forever on Insane (or very hard difficultly), then this may help.

Quite often you can walk into a area, you can be killed in a mere second then forced to wait 30 seconds for the game to reload (especially on the consoles). After a few tries, the load time gets very annoying. The end-boss is very annoying having no check-points between the battle. However this glitch works with him, as there are a check-point before and after.

This glitch basically allows you to play most of the game with God-mode on and Instant-kill enabled. You will need to unlock the cheats by completing the game on normal.

Background on the glitch
The glitch works between check-points (when the save icon/text appears at the bottom right). However you can not pass two or three checkpoints without reseting the glitch, otherwise the current game will be flagged with cheat and you wont complete the level on insane.

Using the glitch

1. Select your chapter, and the difficultly on Damn, I'm Good and start-game,
2. Play as little, or as much as you like until you hit hard secton,
3. Quit the game,
4. Go into the cheats menu and enable: God-mode and Instant-gib,
5. Go back to the chapters, then select resume game,
6. Now do the hard selection, and keep an eye out for the save icon/text,
7. When you see the save icon/text, quit game quickly.
8. Go back into the chapter screen, and resume game (the cheats will be turned off).
9. Carry-on with no cheats,

10. If you get stuck again, repeat from step 3.

If there is no more check-points (as its the end of level), go into the cheats menu (in-game) and turn them off before you trigger the next level.

If the level is a two/three part, turn the cheats off when the screen starts to dim (or go black), then repeat from step 3 (when the next part is loaded).

BORDERLANDS 2 » Searching for Jimmy Jenkins

Posted by Roguey on Wednesday 20th March, 2013 · Comment 0 comments

For the past few days I have been hunting a guy called Jimmy Jenkins in Borderlands 2. Jimmy Jenkins is a miniature found when opening certain ammo crates, in a few locations. He is the rarest miniature, so the chances are you will find the others many times before finding Jimmy. Here is the places you can find him:

- Wildlife Preservation,
- Opportunity,
- Thousand Cuts (Hyperion Expansion),
- Hero's Pass,

I have spent awhile(at-least 20+ hours) doing ammo crate runs in Opportunity without no luck. I did find a few miniatures however but not Jimmy (probably every other miniature). I also did a few runs in Hero's pass but that was even worse, I never found even one miniature there.

So I thought I'll try in Wildlife Preservation, on Vault-Hunter-Mode, with the Doctor's Order quest selected (2/4 unfortunately (I thought it had to be 1/4)); as said it's easier to find Jimmy there. I don't have the arena DLC (which is said to be a requirement; although it just saves time reaching a special set of boxes). It can take you 7-8mins to reach these boxes without, as you need to run from the start of Wildlife Preservation each time.

Blog picture

When you reach the boxes, make sure you kill all hostile monsters (Skaggs etc.) before opening the boxes, and open one box at a time. On my first attempt I saw 3 miniatures popup out of the 4 boxes (pretty good eh?). After 10-20 runs he finally popped up. The runs combined took around 1-2 hours to do.

So if you're looking for Jimmy, I wouldn't suggest doing the ammo crate run in Opportunity unless thats all you can do. You do have a chance of finding him when doing ammo-box runs but odds are very low. I suggest, read-up and do the box run in Wildlife Preservation. Good luck, hope that helps anyone trying to find Jimmy.

DIABLO 3 » Diablo 3 v1.07 fewer legendary items

Posted by Roguey on Monday 18th February, 2013 · Comment 3 comments

When v1.07 came out I was excited to about many of the new additions to the game; like public games with monster power (a bit over-due tbh), new crafting recipes and improvements to monk/wizard classes. So during the past few days I have been getting back into Diablo 3.

The new crafting recipes act like resource sinks, eating up a lot of spare resources that ive been collecting since Diablo 3 came out (good idea). However these recipes also eat your up money. This isn’t usually too big of problem as I do normally make quite good money from it.. well, before v1.07 came out.

I have farmed Act1/3 countless times on MP1 upto 6 during a few days now. I find very few legendary items now since v1.07 came out. It can be anything from 4 or 5 runs before I see a single legendary item now. Before v1.07 I used to see one or two legendary items every 2 or 3 runs (sometimes I was lucky and got 2 in a single run). Now; at one stage I went over 28 million experience before I saw a single legendary item (with 400% MF) - farming act 3 (over and over, just killing elites and avoiding white monsters as much as possible).

I have always ran at the maximum magical find (with my helper with magical find items too). In the picture below, I am running at 475% mf (MP4) yet found rubbish items during the whole of act 1. Not that I expect something during a single run, however to do 4 or 5 runs through act 3 (MP1) before, without a single legendary either isn’t much fun.

Blog picture

Im not saying I expect a legendary item every time, just that im finding it very hard work to find any legendary items now. I don’t know whats happened to my game but it feels like hit a permanent spell of bad luck in it now, maybe its just me? If you’re finding the same thing please add your comment below and let me know! Are you too finding less legendary since v1.07 came out?

DIABLO 3 » Another look at Diablo 3

Posted by Roguey on Sunday 17th February, 2013 · Comment 0 comments

During the past few days ive been looking at my blog section, when I noticed about my Diablo 3 blogs. In some of last blogs I noticed that I was getting a bit frustrated by the game (ie. Calling it boring and that). However these blogs were written a while back and since then a lot has changed in Diablo 3. So much so, that’s not the same any-more, nor are these blogs are kind-of correct now.

When Diablo 3 came out, it was very hard work to get anywhere in the game. You needed the very best items to really adventure into the hardest areas but catch 22; without the best items it was near impossible to find anything. In a few patches back the difficulty was nerf and made it more accessible for more players.

The next big change to Diablo 3 (which was rather shocking) was the introduction of the Paragon levels. Blizzard basically whacked on 100 extra levels on-top of the level 60 cap. These paragon levels add extra magical find to your character allowing you to find better items without losing any damage. You can potentially get your entire magical find from the paragon levels only. I never thought a company would ever whack on 100 extra levels (on a 60 cap) – especially in a free update. These paragon levels greatly extend the game life and add something to work towards.

Another thing added to Diablo 3 was Nephalem valor. This improves your odds of finding items after successfully killing 5 elite groups. This is a way of keeping you in the game for longer, as you want to do the 5 kills then look for more (since your nephalem valor is up). Blizzard has been cleaver about it too – using the nephalem valor bonus for looking for keys and body parts too (in later patches).

And probably the last big change from my earlier Diablo 3 blogs is that Blizzard has basically gone through every unique/set item and gave it an overhaul. When Diablo 3 came out; if you were lucky enough to find a unique or set item, the chances were it would be useless. This was because the basic stats of these ‘special’ items were basically not too good. However a few patches back Blizzard went through all the items and gave them a good tweaking. Now these items can very good.

Blog picture

Blizzard has hasn’t been doing nothing since these changes, yet have been adding more features and improvements to the game, such as adding new recipes, PvP sections, monster power, inferno machine and even removing that respawn timer!

Its crazy really how much Diablo 3 has changed since its first release. It is a much better game now! I am glad Blizzard have listened to its public and improved Diablo 3! I hope this sets the record straight from my earlier blogs. Diablo 3 can be a very addictive now, since you feel you have a chance of finding some great loot!

Verified by Visa Sucks!

Posted by Roguey on Monday 16th July, 2012 · Comment 3 comments

A day or so ago I tried to place an order online with for a couple of items. After going through the checkout stage, I was greeted by the Verified by Visa (VbV) iframe, immediately a sigh – when I've seen this, it usually meets my order is going to be rejected 8 out of 10 times (happened to mum so many times over the years).

Blog picture

It must have been months, maybe even a more (could be a year) since I've seen this screen: I haven't used many online retailers recently and if I do mostly eBay/PayPal. So when it asks for my password, I haven't got a clue. So I thought I'll try a couple that I use: 2 attempts later and I'm told I am not allowed to try again. Fine, so let's ask for a new password (after-all once you forgotten it, you should be able to ask for a new one?). Fill in all the details (which I'm not too keen giving on the internet), only to see Process blocked.. so now I can't even ask for a new password now? I am not even sure my new card is registered with VbV either, as it's only changed this month! So technically there shouldn't be any password assigned to that card, as it's a new card.

According to VbV since I tried like 2 times, I must be fraudster?! Now its saying the only way to Unblock it is to phone a number (usually phoning banks/companies, is a nightmare.. waiting ages on a phone in a queue, giving more details to someone).. Why do I have to phone a number to get an online process unblocked too? Surely you should be able to unblock in my online banking?! (Would make sense).. nope, nothing there (no mention at all). By the looks of it, there is no time-out on the block: My card is blocked for good on all VbV sites until I phone them (how nice)..

What a horrible system.. Visa you should be really shamed of it! An iframe is very bad implementation – you don't expect that from important payment systems! I would never use a frame, has it should transfer you to a full-page site (that shows you a secure connection). For many, it looks like a phishing scam (all too easy to make something look like it in 10..5 minutes)! There is no help; once something goes wrong you're forced to phone them at you're expense. Why isnt there some kind-of admin section for us account owners? If they are going to block you, then at least give you a counter telling you that you have just 2 goes. Why is the block permanent too? Surely 24-hour is good enough? Payment blocked is getting too common, you'd never used to get one unless it was for a very good reason.

Blog picture

Even if I was a fraudster, then VbV hasn't even bothered to tell me about this activity by email (which it should know). So I would come to use my card, to find I'm blocked without any idea. Then I'll have to chase them up (probably waiting on there for ages) giving countless details to people, costing me money.

I'll probably get a phone-call from the bank later telling me that fraudster tried to defraud me.. yea.. That was me trying to actually buy something with the stupid thing!?! Why has forgetting a password caused so much trouble? Has the account owner should be able to sort myself, without having to get someone else involved. They scared the heck of mum the first time it happened, phoning her telling that someone tried to defraud her (wasn't actually a fraudster, but her in the end).

So in the end, what has Verified by Visa done? Well, just blocked legit sale.. thanks! Really useful – how can I opt-out (cant even do that), please?! All I want to do is set a new password... Yet in the real-world I can use near field communication (no PIN) up-to £15, or with a PIN without a problem.
