Now on Steam?

From out-of-the-blue - Frontier have decided to release Elite: Dangerous on Steam today. I understand why Frontier did it, because originally you could only buy the game directly from Frontier's store (not everyone has online payment / paypal). So now its possible to buy through Steam, or send to friends etc.

However the strange thing is that backers havnt been issued Steam-keys - encase they want to register their copy on Steam (for any advantages Steam may offer now or in the future).

This topic seams to be causing a bit of commotion on the official boards, which can be seen here.
