The following issues in this version are known and will be fixed in a forthcoming update.

• Clothing on some character appears black.
• Flight School text remains on screen after playing the tutorial.
• Player ship can get stuck at the exit of a highway if a menu is open.
• Player ship can jump positions when changing zones while flying on autopilot.
• Texts that are new in 4.0 are not yet translated.
• Voice recordings for voiced texts that are new in 4.0 are not yet present.

geez, im surprised they are still updating that thing. Last time I checked egosoft forum was an ghost-town, I guess there is still a few people around although?

I don't believe they are working for all these features for profit but prepare the engine for next game which is will have much bigger changes; many flyable ships, redesigned highway system, etc.

What ever is their reasons I personally like they keep improving X:Rebirth. It is quite exceptional that companies keeps updating their games after couple years.

I'm still not fan of SETA. Hopefully they will not design the next game around it but instead add meaningful stuff for players can do.

Some interesting changes - having been playing X3TC a bit to try and finish The Hub plot, I couldn't do it without SETA and, while the Rebirth universe is much smaller there were still occasions when I would have liked to use it.

Any idea what the likely ETA of a patch might be for the retail version?

Well, when I had access to the alpha/beta versions of XR, it had an option to increase the speed - ie. SETA. So its totally possible for egosoft to add SETA to their next game. However I really hope they learnt their lesson and listen to their fans before releasing.

Yes, they are preparing for the next game, as it will run on the same engine. Improvements carry over.
I'm definitely not a fan of SETA, but combining it with the new "fly to position" command, it'll make warship commanding much easier for me.

Haven't played in ages (maybe a year) is it worth re-downloading and giving it a go ?
Looking at the logs they haven't done anything with those horrible faces the women in the game have
(I suppose mod in steam workshop will fix that and most other things lol)

I dont know to be honest, XR had a lot of problems.

as for changing the faces, well last time I was in the ego camp (a long time ago), it wasnt possible to do any modelling for XR. Egosoft used a very expensive piece of software to generate the models, which made it impossible for fans to do. Maybe since someone has made a tool to convert them? no idea.

There are no compulsory, old, female NPCs so you could simply avoid talking to them if you were interested in trying things out post-release. For example, via selecting male NPCs via the Side Bar.

Using the TAF! mod could be a good idea in case old, female NPCs started talking while you were placing Trade Agents (although the pauses between Small Talk initiation amongst groups of NPCs is short these days).

as for changing the faces, well last time I was in the ego camp (a long time ago), it wasnt possible to do any modelling for XR. Egosoft used a very expensive piece of software to generate the models, which made it impossible for fans to do. Maybe since someone has made a tool to convert them? no idea.

This is interesting topic. Egosoft has nowadays a graphics designer Lino Thomas who uses open source applications GIMP and Blender. I hope he is able to push Egosoft in a direction that they would switch to 100% open source applications and open formats.

Valve is pushing openness to PC gaming more and more; Vulkan (open graphics API + open SDK), OpenVR/OSVR (open VR APIs), open platform to play and make games (SteamOS), Blender, etc. No more vendor lock-in technologies (DirectX) and operating systems/versions (Windows/10) but let gamers have a change to choose their platform. It is going to be very interesting year.

Just for interest - what does it mean to be in some camp? I hope it doesn't mean this silly "space game war" that has been going on among some gamers.

To those who have already bought the game maybe you should re-download if only for a relevant opinion, good or bad...I play both ELITE and REBIRTH ... Neither perfect, but one offers more variation Smile
