Sounds like egosoft are still very active patching XR. In the past they havnt gone as far as version 4.0 with any other of their projects. Thanks for letting me know.

To those who have already bought the game maybe you should re-download if only for a relevant opinion, good or bad...I play both ELITE and REBIRTH ... Neither perfect, but one offers more variation

This is definitely good times for people who like space games. I'm playing X Rebirth and Star Citizen but I will definitely give Elite a new change at some point.

X Rebirth engine has progressed well and hopefully they are able to use OpenGL renderer on all platforms soon and start to move to Vulkan over time.

Star Citizen 2.2 PTU release is near and it seems it is going to be huge what comes to features. Star Citizen PU 2.1.2 is already impressive and leading the way if you ask me. It doesn't mean you couldn't enjoy other space games at the same time Smile

I guess ill have to look into v4.0 when it comes out; I did have a look at 3.61 on my youtube channel, although the aim was to somewhat set things right (I was pretty mad at XR when posting my earlier relook).

Grinned when I saw the confusion over controls (Youtube 3.61), I am playing Elite, Rebirth and just started on Squadron 42 (Star Cit)..Somebody called J.Harshaw on Ego is trying to get a link between Player and Producer, give the man his due he is trying....
Did not fancy Star Citizen but thought solo in Squadron 42 might be OK but it is a bit delicate at present...Will you be doing any research into Squadron 42 ...??? hopefully yes.

I see there is a mailshot from Ego this morning announcing the expansion. TBH I've been so busy with Fallout 4 the last 2 - 3 months (now on the elusive keep everyone friendly apart from the Institute playthrough) I haven't touched Rebirth at all. I wonder how the new territories and any plot expansion will meld into the existing story or campaign, or whether you need to start over.

If it's reasonably priced on Steam might take a look, if only to get away from Preston Garvey and his, "There's a settlement that needs our help..." for a bit.

Lore-wise, the DLC is consistent with gate shutdown theme although in this case, the 3 included systems were connected to each other for at least some time before Albion connected with DV.

Campaign-wise, it is the same as for TTO DLC in that the gates to the HoL DLC don't open until after the gate to DV opens. Similarly, you are able to use the HoL DLC with ongoing saves. Although personally, I found the experience of exploring the HoL DLC in a fresh start without a pimped out Skunk or armada lots of fun.


Edit: Fixed wrong timepoint for gate opening during the plot.
