The wait is out.. X-Rebirth is now OUT!

It's been 7 years since Egosoft started work on X-Rebirth, and finally today marks its release, 15th of November. Based on a completely new engine, many of the old limits have been removed, and much has changed including the universe itself. X-Rebirth marks a new era for the X-Games – Bernd's new vision.

We are no longer limited to small areas linked together in the form of gates (small as in a few 100's km wide), ships with just a handful of turrets, or small stations. We now have large areas, connected together with highways, and giant flying space cities.

One of Egosoft key-points was to make X-Rebirth easier to understand without reducing the depth to the game. You must admit that the previous x-games had a very steep learning curve, which often meant new players would simply give-up before they got anywhere. However Egosoft didn't want to reduce the depth of the game merely make it easier to get into.

So this leads me onto SETA. If you are a new player then you can skip this sentence altogether, as you won't need to know what SETA is. However if you are an experienced x-player you will be wondering what is the effect of SETA being removed. Well, in the most sense SETA was a cheat, allowing you to skip hours of game-play without having to do anything. You would skip a lot of game-play because it was boring. Egosoft wanted to remove the boring sections, to make the game more fun (so you don't want to skip half the game).

And my second point (I know many x-gamers will be worried about) is the single player ship. Whilst on face-value it may sound a worrying, the ship is just the vessel which carries you between places or does fighting – both aspects can be changed and/or upgraded with the Skunk.

I understand that a new universe, with new challenges will be daunting at first. So I have been building-up a resource to help new players find their way around. This is the reason why I have been busy for the past few months – as many of you may have guessed. I still have more work to do, as there are a lot of things I need to cover, rewrite and continue improving.

I must thank everyone who has provided me with help, advice and tips including all the Devnet staff and Egosoft employees. It is great to be work along-side you guys for once.

To celebrate the release, I have created my own trailer;

Here's to a new chapter to the x-universe. Good luck Egosoft, may you continue strength to strength.
