Cartel, Inc

Cartel, Inc is an umbrella corporation that is involved in multiple kinds of businesses throughout the 'verse. Their reputation is closer to "notorious" than "famous", and for good reason.
You will find wares developed by Cartel Inc at some pirate stations, although stock is strictly on an as-available basis (meaning that the stock moves from station to station throughout the game). A popular ware early in a young pirate's game is the Cartel Shield Hacker, which makes it possible to steal valuable goods from much larger ships. "Possible" does not necessarily mean "easy".

A portion of Cartel, Inc, is based on Phanon Corporation by Litcube. Compared to the forum-released version, we added:
- Automatic level increases. If player does not destroy Phanon HQ, then the company will, eventually, level up automatically.
- Random start sectors (so you do not always know where they live).
- Better, more interesting, text.
- Fixed bug that could cause AL pileup.
- More in the future.
In other words; Cartel Inc is more bad-ass.

Several subsidiaries of the Cartel will compete with your traders to make the economic part of the game (Trade, Build) more interesting. They will compete with your traders to buy wares, and will build stations that compete with your own by driving down sales prices throughout the 'verse. At higher levels, they become an enemy to be reckoned with.
Each succeeding subsidiary is more aggressive and smarter than the previous.
The first subsidiary, Shell Oil, begins by simply buying up stuff that you want in the universe; competing with your Mk3 or OK Traders. You can steal their transports (maybe), and not much happens.
Their home sector moves around with each subsidiary (level). Home sectors are well-defended. If you wander in there, expect to be, um... the center of attention.
Some of the defenders are so aggressive it is funny (compared to the vanilla game).
Like your worst nightmare, the Cartel will keep growing... unless you stop them.
