Main Menu

Main Menu Features and Short Descriptions

  • Jump Drive Mk2 - Set hotkey to Shift-J
  • Detector = Buy the ware, then listen for the sounds. If you are far off target you will hear a tick, like a clock tick. If you are far away then the tick will be infrequent; up to maybe 3-ish seconds apart.

Turn your ship until the sounds (and display) change to Warm or Hot. Then go.

    Make course corrections as necessary.
  • Autopilot Improvement (Bounce) = Improves some AI behavior on player-owned ships. Fewer fatal crashes.
  • Special Drone Tasks = Vayde is the only guy in the world who knows exactly what these things do. We are, slowly, reverse-engineering them. Maybe we will rework the system so that they make more sense to everyone.
  • Launch Fighter Drones = First time, will ask you how many to launch. 10 is good. If you have an enemy targeted within range, then it will launch 10 (or whatever number) drones to attack the target.

Use the F8 and F9 keys to command all drones to "Protect Me" or "Attack My Target", as appropriate.
  • Mission Assistant = X Missions Reloaded (XMR). Start by buying perks that allow you to get missions with one or more races. There are some fresh missions there, and at least one plot.
  • Ship Browser = In-game ship stats. All real. Always up-to-date.
  • Marines Repair Target = If you have trained marines on board your ship, and a target selected within range, then you can command a squad to spacewalk to the target and repair it with their repair lasers. Recommend you do this from close to the target. 3km is appropriate for small targets.
  • Teleporter = Teleports spacewalking astronauts and marines onto the playership if they are in range. If not in range, will leave one of the astronauts targeted so that you know where to fly to get closer.
  • Pandora Tuning Ejector = If your ship has Pandora Tunings (extra engine tunings and rudder optimaztion crates that you find in some sectors), then this will eject them. Then you can collect the crates with another ship. It is a way to transfer Pandora Tunings to another ship.
  • Where Is My Stuff? = Makes a list of wares that you own, and what ships carry them. Handy for finding that Tractor Beam that you know you stashed somewhere...
  • LIFE Astronaut = Transports nearest astronaut or spacewalking marine onto playership. Useful for LIFE-specific astronaut missions.
  • LIFE Mute = Shuts up LIFE banter if it bugs you. You can also reduce the banter (rather than muting it) in the LIFE Configuration Options under audio. Set the repeat timer to a higher number to reduce banter.
  • Community Configuration Menu (CCM) = CCM, but no need for a clumsy hotkey. You will find NPC Bailing and Salvage Commands and NPC's here, among other things.
  • LIFE Settings = Just what it says on the tin. LIFE does multiple things. None of them important. Some of them fun. Explosion shockwaves, radio chatter, bailed pilot missions.
  • Set Combat Difficulty = Currently only Deadly Bounty Hunters obey this. Soon, all generic missions will, too.
  • Bounce = Can be toggled on or off. Off is occasionally handy for things such as live-fire experiments against your own ships. When On, Bounce will prevent most unintentional friendly fire, except when an enemy is within range.
  • NPC Bailing = Turn it On or Off here. Configure in the CCM menu.
  • RRF No Poach = Prevent RRF from poaching player mission targets. Hopefully.
  • Scorp Map: Write Log = This exports your current 'verse to a log file. Then, in the Scorp Map program, press F2 then direct Scorp Map to read the log file that you just exported (documents\Egosoft\X3AP\log00001.txt).
  • Super Script Killer = Fixes captured or boarded ships that behave badly (such as ignoring your commands). Use with discretion: will break plot ships.
  • Export Empire = Writes out your ships and stations to a log file. You can then rename the log and copy it to the t folder so that "Import Empire" can import into a new game. Useful when an update requires a new game start. It is not perfect, but it helps.
  • Enable Cheat Package = Enables the Cheat Package. Will be here, at the bottom of the Main Menu. Or on the Custom tab of ship's consoles.
  • ScorpMap: Find Ship = This is a complete cheat to find a rare ship anywhere in the game. If you want some semblance of balance, use Teladi Information System instead. You will have to hunt for it at random Pirate Bases.
  • PropMongler = Programmer's tool for examining variables in-game.
  • Cheat Menu = The classic, with some fixes and enhancements for DS3. "All Equipment", for example, includes most Deadly equipment wares, such as Slipstream Drive, Autoslide Thruster Override Control, Detector, Turbo 1&2, Boarding Transporter, Replicator, Teladi Information Service, and Unfocussed Jumpdrive.

Q) How do I set up multiple weapon configurations?

A) Set a hotkey for Weapon Loadouts (I use Shift-NumericKp0).
Or Bottom of the combat menu. "Weapon Loadouts".
I recommend using Global Loadouts. They can be used on multiple ships. Give them a meaningful name (not ship name: describe the loadout and/or purpose).
