Building an BoFu Chemical Lab

So now Hola Ni wants us to build a BoFu Chemical Lab - because the system is running low on BoFu. You should find that your Headquarters will have a new blue-print for a Boron BoFu Chemical Lab M. You will also be told to hire/use a TL ship to deloy the station.

So to build the station, go into your owned resoures (by pressing r), scroll down to Spacelab Headquarters, then pick Adjust station parameters. You should see a list of wares, production queue, fund transfer and advannced parameters. If you go to Select blue-print you should have two options; a Boron BoFu Chemical Lab M and a Relay Beacon. Once you have the Chemical Lab high-lighted, you will see on the far right a list of resources required to create the station. Resources in white are ones you have enough of, whilst those marked in red are ones you will need more of.

You will probably find you need some more wares (such as energy cells, etc.) and credits to build station. For wares you will need to collect them from near-by stations (one of those captured TS ships maybe useful for this). As for credits you will need to either complete bulletin missions (I would suggest checking those captured TS ships for a Cargo Lifesupport System - as its useful for a few missions), selling equipment (such as guns, missiles etc.) or trade in explorer points for some credits (com a station and see if the explorer's guild is there - try the Military Outpost in The Void delta). Once you have the required funds, transfer the credits in the Adjust station parameters and transfer the credits to the Headquarters.

Once you have all the required materials and credits, the Headquarters should start to build the station for you.

Borrowing a TL

Once you have the station built, you will need to get some help from a TL ship - the station itself is too big to move yourself. You may of noticed you have a second mission to complete, which says Talk To: Sao t'Hnk. Sao t'Hnk was former carrier commander who was demoted after abandoning his ship to save his crew. The crew and his family wasnt happy about his decision, and demoted him to a Split Elephant. He wont sell the ship, nor let you hire the ship.

You tell him that you can help him leave this area, but he doesnt belive you. So next you tell him to contact Hola Ni at the Research station. Sao t'Hnk tells you that he trusts Boron even less than you, but if you get him a warship he will belive you, give-up transporter, kill Boron and leave the system.

It turns out this warship is a Split Scorpion - An medium sized fighter ship, hardly what I call a warship (but I guess thats better than him asking for an actual warship). So at this point you may wonder where you will get one of these ships? Luckily enough your Headquarters will suddenly have the blueprint for the ship. So once again gather any required resources and build the ship.

When you have the ship built, ask it to fly to The Void theta - you don't have to equip the new warship with shields, upgrades or weapons (a warship with no equipment lol). Once ths ship reaches the system you will get a message from Sao t'Hnk asking about transferring ownership, turn the ship over to him.

You will now find the TL ships is now hired by you (its not been given to you like the text implies), so ask it to dock at shipard - Spacelabs Headquarters. Once docked transfer the station onto the TL ship and then ask it to move to the desired system. I would recommend either The Void zeta or The Void eta; both systems contain ore and silicon asteroids (which maybe useful in the future should you wish to make an self-sustaining complex later). However you are free to place the station where you like.

Once the station is placed, you will get the following message from Hola Ni:

It is as I expected. The artifact that you found belongs to a destroyed Jump Gate. More precisely, it is the cover panel of one of the gate's nacelles. But don't worry, it is not part of the gate that we are looking for. This artifact appears to be much older. Historians believe that, much like any other technology, Jump Gate design has undergone significant change over time. The reasons behind these changes remain a major scientific mystery. Some speculate that the changes just represent technological advances. Others, however, believe that astronomical incidents, such as supernovas or cosmic storms, made such changes necessary. Some even go so far as to attribute the Jump Gate reconnections, seen over the last few centuries, to these cosmic events. None of these theories have yet been proven. What is clear, however, is that the Jump Gate network as we know it was not built overnight, and that there are technical differences between gates. It does not seem entirely unreasonable to speculate that these differences are in some way linked to the order in which the gates are currently shutting down.

As for the artifact itself, its metallic composition is quite unique. Some of the parts I cannot identify, but others are clearly attributable to specific Jump Gate functions. It exhibits a low radioactive signature but, more interestingly, I have found something resembling an inscription on it. I would certainly love to spend more time on this, and maybe Krimanckolanks(Paranid Diplomat) feels the same, but right now we have more important things to do.
