Two more development videos

It seems egosoft are going a bit mad, showering us with not 1, but two more development videos, albeit one in English and the other in German. The first one (being in English) talks about the LOD system (Level Of Detail). A LOD system optimizes the detail of object depending on its distance. ie. an object far away dosent need the same detail of that which is close.




In the video Roger talks about a minimum requirement for Rebirth being Shader Model 3.0. As far as I know; video cards such as the Geforce 6600 / ATi x1300 have shader model 3.0. Shader Model 3.0 has been out for sometime now, and since we moved up-to 5.0 now on the high-end cards. However one of the features roger said is the Rebirth engine is highly scalable, and can work on a large range of systems.

The second video, Helge talks about story / background of Rebirth, although he doesnt say much other than the story still isnt 'finalized' yet:




For me, the second video in German was hard to follow - I guess I dont like reading subtitles. Anyway, atleast you know Smile
