TYPE: BBS mission
AVAILABLE: Argon, Split, Boron, Pirate, Paranid, Yaki, Teladi (e.g. all "races")
SUMMARY:
Are you a bit disapointed that you only get 1 patrol mission in the whole game? Yeah me too...but don't fear, we're gonna change this a bit Big grin
DESCRIPTION:
Simple, you find the BBS, you accept it, and set of on the patrol. There will be different scenarios possible to make it a bit more interesting Big grin

Scenarios:
Single Sector Patrol Mission (normal):
You have to join up with the patrol leader, follow him to 4-10 checkpoints in sector. If enemies are spotted they are to be destroyed before proceeding. Should the patrol leader get destroyed the mission fails, and you loose recognition. You are not allowed to go out of the current sector (no..no jumpdrive even!). Once the patrol reaches the end point, you get a message, and credits/recognition.

Multi Sector Patrol Mission (normal):
Join up with the patrol leader. Follow him 3-10 sectors. if enemies are spotted they have to be destroyed. Should the patrol leader get destroyed, the mission fails, and you loose recognition. You have to jump "after" the patrol leader to a new sector, failure to do so, results in mission failure and lose of recognition. Once you arrive in the final sector, you have to dock at the station specified with a message. All enemies in-sector must be destroyed before doing so (again..mission failure else). Once docked you get your rewards.

Single Sector Patrol Mission (Lone Wolf):
You set out to a single sector patrol mission on your own. there are 4-10 navigation satelites posted around the sector that you need to destroy (enemy markings, this is to ensure you follow the waypoints). Every enemy in scan range of this navigation satelites (adv. satelites maybe) has to be destroyed BEFORE the last satelite itself is being destroyed. Not following procedure will result in mission failure and recognition loss.

Multi Sector Patrol Mission (Lone Wolf):
You get a list of sectors to patrol. this list is from 4-10 sectors long. You have to follow the list, and are not allowed to jump anywhere else. Once you have entered a sector, you have to destroy all enemy ships in that sector before you can leave that sector. Again, once in the last sector, you have to dock at a station once the sector is clean. Not following the rules results in mission failure.

Single Sector Patrol Mission (Patrol Leader):
Once you have a ranking of >= 6 with the race, you can get the mission of being a patrol leader. again, you have to follow waypoints, eliminating all enemies you get in contact with. If you loose too many ships the mission is considered a failure.

Multi Sector Patrol Mission (Patrol Leader):
You have to lead a patrol through multiple sectors. Same principle as in the other Multi sector patrol missions. If you loose too many ships the mission is considered a failure.

Deep Space Patrol Mission (normal):
straight forward: Meet up with the patrol leader. There are 2 waypoints. one is deep in space, and the other is in the ecliptic plane. Follow the patrol leader, eliminate all enemies you find on route. The patrol leader dies...mission fails.

Deep Space Patrol Mission (Lone Wolf):
...same principle. 2 nav/adv. satelites need destruction. You are alone. Do it, and destroy all enemies.

Deep Space Patrol Mission (Patrol Leader):
...I guess you got the idea...right?

Reward and Enemies System:
The reward system is straight forward. There is a set amount you get per sector, that get's multiplied by mission type (normal, lone wolf, leader), and the amount and strength of the enemies present.
Fixed numbers for this later.

Enemies are trickier. When the script starts, it checks the sector/sectors for enemies. These get tagged. Now depending on your fight rank, mission type, and race relation, patroling ships (including your insector ships) there is a chance of spawning some more enemies
(your fight rank and patroling ships determine the size of the fleet and the setup, the mission type and race relation give additional points there and dictate the chance).
it's something like:
Patrol Ships:
M6+ -> 20 point
M6 -> 15 point
M3+ -> 10 point
M3 -> 8 point
M4 -> 5 point
M5 -> 2 point

Player ship:
M0 -> 300 Points.
M2 -> 100 Points
M1 -> 70 Points
M7 -> 30 point
M6+ -> 25 point
M6 -> 20 point
M3+ -> 15 point
M3 -> 13 point
M4 -> 8 point
M5 -> 5 point

Player ships in sector:
Patrol Ship + 2 points.

this way the attack force is always interesting. Now, the points add up, and then give then go through a simple system:
How many M2? deduct points as long as you can, then move on to M7, M6+, M6, M3+, M3, M4, M5.
This is a simple system, but should make quite a few variations on attack force, and make for an interesting battle.

Burn rubber, not your soul!
