I am a beginner of X3, got 2million now and try to buy a factory. Is it possible to rent a TL class ship instead of buying one. And how to purchase mercenaries at the Rehabilitation Facility M alpha?

you can't rent a TL you have to buy one,i have a split elephant 34000 cargo with a 14 ship hangar and its the fastest of its class cant turn for s*** though lol.
and if you want the mercs you need to pay someone to hack the station for you, look for em in the sectors close by its not that expensive.
hope this helps you out.

Yes you can rent a TL. From what I know, you find one in your universe, you talk to the captain and have an option there to ask it to do something for you.

You can hire any TL that has a TL-class icon (not the little dot that civilians get) by talking to the captain through the Comm menu, default C-key within 24km. Hired TLs will charge a small fee (between about 750 and 10,000 credits) based on the general quality of the ship and your current standing with the race, which is charged for every gate you pass. If the ship doesn't pass a gate, you aren't charged. Every shipyard owns one of these TLs (I don't recall if they're "owned" and show up in that menu for the shipyard, or if they just belong to the sector), however if it has been killed, it will take time to respawn. It may also be sent out on a mission to build a new station by the GoD Engine, which will pull it away from its home sector and possibly get it killed. Hired TLs will not use a jumpdrive and will not share sensor data, so sending a scout along and not sending the TL through hostile sectors unless you plan to escort it are both highly recommended; they tend to have a small fighter wing of M4s and M5s and their internal armaments to protect them, but that won't stop much.
Hired TLs are controlled by talking to the captain, and contain many of the same navigation options your own ships have. Once docked at a shipyard, attempting to buy a station will prompt you for which TL to load it into (in case you have multiple). Once in the sector you want to build the station, ask the captain to drop your freight. It will prompt you for which station, then display the sector map. Use the numpad to move it about; 2,4,6,8 keys move it around the grid, the other number keys rotate it. The Insert key will toggle the map axis, so you can use the 8 and 2 keys to move the station "up and down." Pressing 5 will toggle a sort of "follow" mode, where you can hover your mouse or use the arrow keys to select an object in the system from the list and the station will move to the same location as that object, then can be adjusted from there; this is handy for forming tight, straight grids for making less-ugly complexes. Home and End will zoom the sector map in and out. Confirm the station location and it will be dropped where you requested. I recommend saving before you start to build, as it's easy to mess up...and expensive.

I don't remember the ware size. It should say next to the volume. You also need a Cargo Lifesupport System (built in to TPs, sold in some strange places: look it up on the main site or in your in-game Encyclopedia). A Bioscanner is needed in the ship you're piloting in order to see the marine's stats before purchase; they can be trained further at military outposts. To deploy marines, you need a ship capable of launching them: TPs, M6s, and M7s if I recall correctly. Not sure if other classes can hold them, but I think so.
Obviously, I don't have much experience with marines.

Hi there,
ever since the early X-Games you always been able to hire an TL by communicating with the captain, and asking him if you can hire him/her. Hired TL's will not use an jumpdrive, so they are much slower than your own. If your building a large complex (2 or more stations connected together with an complex construction kits) then having your own TL makes it much easier and faster. However you do not need to buy your own TL.
As for buying marines check to see if: you have enough space (I think they take 8 ), your space has the right cargo type (I think M), Marine space (all M6's, M7's, M2's, M1's and TP's can hold marines) and you have an cargo bay life support system installed. Without those requirements, you wont be able to buy the actual marine.
hope that helps,

And then...Let The Training Begin !!!!!
When it comes to 'hiring' Marines or Merc's, look for those with at least 2 stars in fighting.
At least for your first couple.
They learn (add stars) to fight by completing, and surviving, ship boardings.
It's a really good idea that half (or more) of your troops have 2 stars in fighting when you attempt a boarding.
All other "skills" can be trained (bought) at Military Outposts and some Equipment Docks.
**edit...at least this is how it works in TC.
It's not what someone has done..it's about what they are about to do!

Not much has changed with marines in AP. Marines fighting skills can only be improved by boarding, whilst the other skills can only be improved by training. btw, training takes a long time!
