Just thought I would say Hello..
I have used your site for things I couldn't figure out my self so I thought I should sign in and say Hello.
Ive played X2 X3r X3tc and now I am playing X3ap..
Very cool games even if its years between each version I have played
Been playing X3 ap for about 2or3 weeks now
Have 4bil credits and have my PHQ sector set up etc (vanilla).
I have a goods complex and a nividium mining system using the Phq as the seller set up along with a missile and weapons complex.
I am at a point where I can not think of what next to do.
Any suggestions ?

I have the same problem with AP. Once I get everything from the plots I usually quit playing it because there is nothing to do.
Some ideas though, you could take over the war sectors. Capture every capital the enemy sends at you. Not much point in trying to kill an entire race though. Seems like when I do that it makes the game extremely boring. But in AP there is the war, so if you like capital ship combat that is something to do for a while. In fact that is one thing I have yet to do in AP. I would love to see a fleet of destroyers and carriers fight the terrans. All those fighters and missiles, ships exploding... Well lets be honest, i just like the explosions regardless if they are my ships or the enemy.

Hi BL1P! I am at a similar stage except I have not yet a nividium mining operation. I however have my hands full and plenty to do:-
1. I am struggling at the moment to stop my pirate rep. slipping into total hostility.
2. AP offers the ships to buy off the shelf (vanilla) for the first time in X, capable of dominating and suppressing all Xenon and pirate sectors.
3. I have yet to start boarding but there are more ships than ever to board and the good excuse of a war going on.
4. You could maybe use the exciting non vanilla options, this is not open to me as I am banned from the Egosoft site!

Heyo BL1P, welcome to the site!
So, you're bored with the game?
Personally I find the Role playing part of the game to be the most rewarding, so I'm really encouraging you to try it. Read the stories on the egosoft creative forums, there are some good ideas floating around there.
Playing RPG style can be tricky (really depends how hard you make it on yourself), especially if you're going DID. As an example, I'm playing an RPG, where the main point is taking the sector Appallox (XRM), build a shipyard there and use it to create a defense fleet for that sector. Starting point is default Yaki ronin start, but I've added some rules to make it fun. A couple examples:
- I'm a yaki/pirate, so folks don't really like trading with me. Each station/ship I buy has to have a story behind it. Also since I'm in the illegal business I cannot be a hero for any of the factions (except yaki/pirate), meaning I am not allowed to have any high ranks.
- Captured ships must be sold to either the Pirates/Yaki, or the enemy faction (e.g. Boron ships to Split, Paranid to Argon). Teladi will not buy capped ships of me.
- My ranking with the yaki and pirates must mantain ATLEAST neutral. I cannot make them pissed at me (through I sometimes wish to do that really bad...)
- Cannot accept defend station missions as that means killing pirates
This are just a couple of rules I've set up, but basically it's just making a character, giving him/her a backstory you like and then wirting some rules around it, giving the game a much deeper feel.
A couple simple rules you could try:
- DID - This goes for your assets mostly. If one of them is destroyed, no matter the point or importance in game, it's gone for good. Now when it comes to the player, I think autopilot/gate crashes should not be considered. Also, I like to keep playing on, like if my personal M6 get's blown up, reload and destroy it, while I take another ship from my fleet.
- ENEMY - get an enemy. Not just the pirates, yaki, xenon, khaak, but one of the major races. Pick one you like least and start attacking them. Think about
- realism - make the game a bit more realistic for yourself, for example there was one story on the ego forum, where the player was not allowed to participate in combat. His character was a trader and as such didn't know anything about combat, meaning he had to let the AI fight. Another example is the selling of capped ships, like I've done it. Also, don't build weed/booze complexes in race sectors (except weed in Teladi space).
Depending on your game style, put realistic and interesting rules into the game.
Playing this way will make the game much more alive and give you constantly a mission to work towards too. Another thing are mods. Check out the ego boards, there are many (way too many) genious mods out there that make the game more fun. Here I'd like to give a word of warning, atleast this happens to me often. Playing around with mods, I fall in too deep and start filling the game up with millions of mods and playing around with 'em. This for a while is a lot of fun, but sooner or later the lack of a mission kicks in.
My suggestion, check out the mods, play around with 'em a bit, but focus on the story of your character most. Once you got a good character and story you really like and want to push on, check which mods make sense/would help without making the game too easy and grab 'em.
I'm finding that writing a pre-story, starting the game, checking it a bit out, and then re-starting with the right mods installed makes the game most fun. Also I do write notes after each game session, forcing me to make kind of a "captains log" for my character, deepening the story with each session ("OMG, they have blown Jasson Terrel out of the sky! We'll make 'em pay!" *new mission, destroy Paranid Escort blah blah ID XXXXX in XXXXX *).
Here it helps to just read sector descriptions, as they have great stories, and you might find allies you never though exist in the X universe (like a split sector with "neo-liberal" split which love to trade and work with the neighbouring Boron, or a "pirate" (really more unknown) sector that rebelled against the profit seeking Teladi when they started "plundering" their sectors economy. There are MANY interesting stories going on in the verse, just read the sector descriptions
Anyway, I hope that helps a little
Enjoy!

Hi, welcome to the site
I get in that position with the x-games too; maybe not 4bil but a good amount of money and run out of 'steam' after all the main stuff is done. Well with steam there is those achievements; like capture a Xenon Q (unless you done that)? How about trying to capture an Xenon I? I's are supposed to be good ships, as they like M2's with M7M missiles.
Like Nethawk said, you could make a main race hosile and see if you could wipe them out... like the paranid

Wow thanks guys.
Some really good ideas for me to be working on.
I am working my way through the steam achievements atm. Only at 50or60% so far.

Hi there and welcome to the family!
I wiped out the Boron, every bit of 'em in their main stronghold in the the top left of the map.
I was like you sitting on a few billion credits, so i sold EVERYTHING I think I got to 6 or 7 billion and bought and kitted out a huge fleet. Took ages to kit out, but I jumped them all into the Kingdom End, and after a lot of lag wiped them out, and then did all the Boron sectors in that area.

So I built up a 10 bil empire with 5 or so m2s and 4 or 5 colossus with 60 novas each plus some m6s and some of them fancy missile launcher ships.
Then I came across the age old X3 problem of you spend all that time to make the stuff then no matter how good your pc it wont play... once ya use the stuff
damn laggy once I took on the xeon
But enjoyed getting there. just a shame they cant figure out the end of game stuff to be more ??? playable ???

While i completed all the plots at the AP as someone already said it is nice to see explosions, personally i like to invade Terran space with my 10 I's and you guess the result.
In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him.
