:ban-hi Hello all! So I was looking through my ships list a few days back and all I saw were the boring default ship labels, so I started coming up with a number to put on my bigger, impressive, and more important ships, here's some of the names I wrote down:

Personally I don't like naming my ships with proper names. Too much going on to remember what name is what ship and what its role is.
If you are stuck for names, here is a good site that I use a lot for random names: http://www.seventhsanctum.com/. Thats the first thing I thought of when I seen those names, looks like the seventh sanctum name generator output.

Caught me, lol, I was listening to Tool while I wrote up the names and I felt they'd work pretty well as ship names

There's a ship renaming option, you don't have to memorize it, it should be in the 'advanced' tab in either target ship/station or player ship. And fun fact, I actually wasn't using seventhsanctum for the names and here's why: I wrote up this on my school computer, I just opened it and it's blocked, I swear it was my own work

Yea... My problem is that I have too much happening at once. Sure I could name it like (as example) Radiance - M1 - Heavy Support - Group 2 - Main Route, for the patrol groups, Then repeat that for all the capital patrol groups then all the personal capital escorts. Then throw in the station/sector defenders, all with unique proper names (capital ships only).
Thats what i'm getting at. Too much for me to process in a meaningful way. I mean I can't even remember most peoples names lol. Even if I only named the current ship I am flying I still look at the assets window and go "WTF is that!?, oh right thats me!"

I know what you mean, I'm horrible with names too
I usually keep the ship name in parentheses, like so:
Binary Sunset (Python)
Or if the names is too long I just put the ship class:
Binary Sunset (M1)
But i hear ya, I don't name ALL my ships, usually just the big capital ships, like my tyr, kyoto and I, only the meaningful ones
And it does take a while to rename them all, but if you're running a massive fleet op then it might be worthwhile to go through and give them some special denotation, especially if you have a couple of the same ships. Also, I just don't name my fighters unless it's my personal ship.

Im lazy with names too - I just stick RF at the start (Roguey Force - no idea really why I picked that), then add a number at the end. ie. RF Titan 1 etc.

I've gotten my own Allignment tag, TPM (Thorn Private Military), adds a nice touch
