So there's a jump beacon at Venus, Mercury and the Moon. Why can't I jump a ship to them? I'm one two sectors over, and I have plenty of energy to jump across the galaxy. But I can't select those jump beacons as a destination.

Is it because of the transorbital accelerators instead of gates? If so, why even make beacons available there?

edit: Wings can use jumpbeacons but individual ships can't?

This might be a long shot (I don't own AP), but are you pressing Shift+J to jump, or are you using the ship's command menu? I suspect jumping to a beacon will require the command menu, even on your personal ship.

Also depends on race rank.

Somewhere out there is a Cobra Mk III with my name on it.
It isn't mine, some rando actually wrote my name across the side of his ship...

Correct. You need to have at least rank 3 (for Terrans this is "Senatorial Advisor" ) with the owner race of the jump beacon to jump to it. The owner race of the jump beacon is usually the race, which owns the sector the jump beacon is located in.

It also works the same if you start has an Terran. You will need to be friendly with the Argon's although, otherwise you cant use their jump-beacons.
