Okay so I want to go collect Sensor Fragments for Palin, but I really don't want to mess with fighting Thargoids at this point, so I was gonna go look for crashed Thargoids. I spent all evening doing a bunch of research trying to figure out when Thargoids were/weren't hostile so I could avoid having them attack, and thought I understood. (Don't go to AX combat sites, don't carry certain cargo, avoid certain signal sources) mobdro .

But then I went to a Thargoid-controlled system nearby to look for Nonhuman Signatures. Quickly got interdicted, that's fine, it's supposed to scan me and then move on, right? Nope, immediately hostile, tags me with a caustic missile, I jump out of the system but then die because I couldn't figure out how to burn off the caustic fast enough.

So what's the deal? Is there a way to collect Sensor Fragments without fighting Thargoids? There's plenty of guides on fighting Thargoids, but not much info I can find on avoiding fighting them.
