Morphious from Statik Vision has managed to interview Louis Castle, the guy who founded Westwood, together with Brett Sperry.
No groundbreaking info in this one, but a good read:
1. Morph - A few months ago, Westwood Studios branched off into EA Pacific. Are these two companies seperate, or are they working together? Which are you in charge of?
1. Louis - Westwood`s Irvine development studio has done an exceptional job with Nox, Red Alert and Yuri`s revenge. Under the superb leadership of Mark Skaggs it became clear they were perfectly able to run and build their own studio and so, Westwood Pacific became EA Pacific and they are off on their own creating the fantastic new Command & Conquer Generals. As Westwood`s General Manager I continue to run the Las Vegas-based Westwood studios I founded with Brett Sperry in 1985. Aside for the titles listed above our studio is responsible for every Westwood title created in the past 17 years. We communicate closely with all EA studios and especially Pacific given our history, but they are now entirely independent from Westwood.
2. Morph - What do you do to prepare for game releases. I hear you`re busy with E&B...
2. Louis - Yes, Earth & Beyond is keeping everyone in the studio quite busy these days. As general manager of Westwood, I oversee all of Westwood`s titles, including E&B. In the past few weeks leading up to launch, I`ve been working with the product and the team every day, offering more advice and feedback for the last minute changes before we ship the game to stores.
3. Morph - After E&B, what plans does Westwood Studios (not EA Pacific) have in store for us?
3. Louis - Westwood has a lot of plans for future games. I can`t announce anything at the moment, but expect to see some stuff come down the pipeline soon.
The rest can all be viewed at Statik Vision Thnx to Morphious of course !!
