In the case of CNC HQ it certainly does not. Its webmaster, AKA Beanyhead decided to close down the site:

After a few weeks of thinking it over I have decided to close down CnCHQ.com. We've had a good run, however, CnCHQ.com has been up since June 3rd 2002, about a year. Due to the lack of news in the community recently, and the fact that Westwood has died, and also, how Electronic Arts has completly ignored Command and Conquer: Renegade it has been decided that we must close.

Although CnCHQ.com is closing; vloktboky and I will be creating another website in the near future, http://www.t3hhangout.com which will have tons of online games, etc. CnCHQ.com was not the top of the CnC in hits (we only had about 500 a day), we did however, in my opinion, have the most loyal amount of members of any website in the community. We provided you with maps (around 50 or so), and one of the largest skin archives around.

You might say, but there's always Generals to cover, quite frankly, me nor most loyal people in the community like Generals.

We would like to thank those who made the Renegade community be so great (not in any order), Blazer, Crimson, Dante, Aircraftkiller, msgtpain, Transnote, Lion, Malc, l3f7h4nd3d, npsmith82, and last but not least, the once community manager of Renegade, Delphi. I probably forgot some... lol.
