Cheats invading Renegade.

AircraftKiller posted a message about cheats over at CNC Den. Now I could personally describe what these cheats MIGHT cause to you and others, but that description would vaguely be the same as ACK's, so I'll just quote his message, read on:

I regretfully inform the masses that Renegade, as I type this, is being overrun with cheats.

The people responsible for this are too many to list, though one person in particular stands out, a man called "Ty" also known as "Abarrat" from Westwood Exposed.

Recently he's used one of this friends' abilities to hack into game servers to grab the WOL logins of msgtpain, who runs The Pits and its game server. His nicknames were msgtpain, bgpain, and krnelpain.

You now see Abarrat using them in the WOL lobbies to advertise cheats with the Relay program.

For YOUR OWN SAFETY, do NOT download these cheats. Unless, of course, you feel like downloading something that will add your computer into a "botnet" which is used to attack other people and flood them offline.

Dante is working with EA and a group of other people from the community to write anti-cheating software for Renegade, much like the Punkbuster software for Counter-Strike, that will prevent cheats from being used on servers. It is totally impossible to get past it, as it only allows a certain type of game modification. All you're able to use are the levels and specified infantry textures, along with modification packages and sounds. *.w3d files will be blocked out, much like Renegade already disallows vehicles from being changed.

Once again, to keep the integrity of your computer from being compromised (And to not be a jackass), keep from downloading any cheating software you come across online. More often than not, you're just fooled into thinking you got a great deal, when your computer's bandwidth is used to attack other computers or people.

It's good to know that there's anti-cheat program work in progress
And remember, do not touch the cheats, they are evil!
