Planetcnc continues to interview people. Currently on the main page is AirCraftKiller, the famous map maker of some C&C Games, though he's not only famous for that..... Anyway, here's a snip on that interview!
What made you decide to make Renegade maps? Why do you continue to make maps for Renegade? Will there ever be that final map?
What made me decide to do it? Well, I've always loved to create things for the games I play. The original Red Alert had me creating terrain for hours on end. I always strived to make them meet and exceed the standards of Westwood multiplayer levels. I think I made something like 15-20 levels for Red Alert. That same passion went to Red Alert 2. I created 24 multiplayer levels for Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge then. Shortly afterward, I was personally invited to join the Renegade beta testing by Cliff "Devinoch" Hicks, and saw the awesome terrain that Eric Kearns and the rest of the artists had created. Naturally, I wanted to meet and exceed that quality. Why do I continue to create levels for Renegade? Probably because I love the game so much, and there's still so many ideas in my head that I haven't even put into shape yet... The last level? I don't know, I keep telling myself "This is getting boring," yet I continue to work. So I'm either lying to myself or I'm really enjoying this, somehow. I'll believe the latter is true and keep going -- you'll know when I finish.?
