In v3.1 and above you can customize your complexes with your own logo, as well as dock a ships ranging from M0 to M5! No more need to have TS ships moving cargo.

Picture

To change the default logo with your own, open the file ddsmy_billboard.dds in your X3 folder and replace with what you want.

Note
Please keep the dds 256 x 128 and use pixel format: DXT1 when saving.

yes, you can dock capital ships on my upgraded HUB. I thought this would make it easier to fill-up those big ships, rather than getting a TS or Tender ship to dock and undock.

When I started a new Terran Conflict game, it did seem like the hub went 'backwards' for (guess im just used to my one). I guess if you're used to the old hub then you wouldnt know anything better.

Thing is, did you ever see the pictures of the x2 expansions complexes? before they decided on the graphical update and made x3? Those would of been perfect, but the complexes now are just a space hazard, at least this makes life a little easier

Heh love the new HUB, got 2 complexes and an Elephant running erants for 'em Big grin
Anyway...one thing through...anyone else found that it's a bit hard to set it up so it goes where you want it? Mine jumps lower usually....any ideas why? Also it's kinda hard to tell where the node's are, so please please please roguey, give as little how-to setup one up so we can make more beautiful complexes Big grin

I guess its something to do with pipes, although this is what X3 decides. I never try to make my complex 'pretty', I just build them and let everyone look at my ugly complex :P

I really think the complex should of been done another way.. maybe like 'blocks' where you 'install' factories. The frame rate can go through the floor, even its 'pretty'.. its still an ugly fps.

Yeah, but having a seriously good looking hub, it would be nice to have a good looking Complex to go with it Big grin

Through no matter, finally I'm able to buy 1,10Gj shields....well...not buy...cause I produce 'em. I just don't quite understand how egosoft figured we will get the shield going from the factory (no TL docking) to the EQ, since they are ST class. Big grin

Anyway....the complex hub is great, been using it on stand alone stations too sometimes, just cause I can Big grin

the X3 Handbook V5 by apricotslice has a section in it that explains all about building complexes. it's a little complicated, so if you have any questions feel free to ask, but please read the handbook. it talks about how to place complexes, and the math behind what you will need to create a self sustaining complex. yes, with enough money and carefull planning, you can build a complex that you can make 100% profit off of.

(edit)PS: i don't remember where i picked up the guide, but i'm sure it could be googled with relative ease.

I did read the handbook, but it hasn't been updated in a while, e.g. last version they talk about is 1.3, mentioning that the hub had a problem with wanting to face north. I don't think this is the case anymore, but it might be. Also they mentioned that the hub sometimes randomly jumps around....might be true, but for me it just goes "lower". So I really was asking for more up-to-date info. And well where the nodes are on rogueys hub. I think it's the central tower...but am not sure.

Thanks anyway m8. But trust me I play this game...well atleast 2 years now, and I got the basics out, just not this specific hub.

And if anyone can make a script that adds Cargo/Engine/Rudder optimization to player EQ I'd be gratefull. Big grin

Ok, finally got around to edit my billboard Big grin
Now I installed gimp and the dds plugin, and opened up the billboard.dds, just tell me why is it 512x256 big, when you say we should use 256x128?
...did you change the size sometime around or am I doing something wrong?

You can use any size, as long its dividable by 8! so, 512, 256, 128 etc. Just make it twice as wide, as its height. heck, make it 4096 x 2048 if you like..

Ahh, ok, so the mipmaps will take the right one then Big grin
Well I just though that it's being added as a texture and that for should have a specific size. I'm probably wrong with that Big grin
