The Chieftain is a new ship added in v3.0. Its primary role is for combat - featuring 6 hard-points, class 6 power-coupler and high manoeuvrability. You could technically use this ship for trading but with only 88t (without shields) wouldn’t make it a good choice. It would be possible to use this ship for exploration, because its jump-drive can reach up-to 38.5ly but there are better choices for that too.
