I started playing the X series recently with the Steam sale, with X3: Reunion. I got my joystick out and I loved what I played, but I was pretty bad, I have to admit. I finally started figuring out how to make some money when I decided to get X3:TC, because I figured it was an all around better game.

Here's the problem, though. With Reunion, I was flying with the joystick and using the mouse to interact with the UI, and keyboard for everything else, and it made getting around pretty easy for me. But in X3:TC, using the mouse in almost any way seems to result in me moving the ship, and I can't easily interact with the UI without risking screwing up what's going on.
So, what I want to ask is, is there any way to make the UI easier to interact with, make the mouse stop moving my ship around if I mis-click, or otherwise make getting around the screen easier, or do I need to turn off the mouse and pretend it's not there? I mean, I think I can get around the game with just the keyboard if I want, but the mouse makes some things easier.
