Hi all,

My first post on this forum will be a bit of an open question.
I am actually new to the X series and was wondering what would be the best option:
-X3R+roguey's mod
-vanilla X3TC
-something else
Any ideas? And most importantly why?

If you have anything else that you think I should know (like must-have scripts etc...) please tell me Smile

I repeat, I am totally new to X3.
I am planning to invest some time in the game so I would like to make the right choice from the start.

I would say X3 with my mod, although im bound to be a bit biased. TC has got more story missions but my mod has a good mix of new ships (from small to massive M0's - bigger than TC ships), more optimization (runs faster, less spam), new sectors with some totally new backgrounds and more life (from random event generators to real news reports). Once idea, why not check out the trailers on youtube?

I will order a copy of X3R asap.

BTW, I noticed steam sells online versions.
Is there any difference with the standard "boxed" version when it comes to modding and scripting?

I'm personally not sure about the steam version because I get the disc version although it should be okay I would of thought. Someone here might know more.

I know from experience that it is not the case with a few titles so just being cautious.

hmmm.. well looking around on the net it seems to suggest that the steam version should be okay.

i never tried rogueys mod so have no opinion on it. when i had X3R i got the xtended mod. there were loads of new ships and missions and an entire new race. it is truly epic. look for the xtended mod trailer on youtube. i moved to X3TC and loaded it with scripts. theres the RFF script for example. you can have race wars and sector invasions. the sector being invaded gets defended by the owner race and all hell brakes loose. i got a freighter and i collect all the goodies and claim the abandoned ships (theres a script for getting the AI ships to bailout instead of dying).

x3tc has probably the same amount of scripts as x3r but x3r has fully working mods (if you need em). personally, terran conflict looks better... alot better. missiles are more common and the balance is better. you cant kill EVERYTHING with an argon titan anymore. now ye can have missile frigates and bombers. i took out a khaak carrier with an m8 bomber once. the sector owning race only gave me 10 thousand the tight buggers.
