Those that have read my posts might remember my complete dislike for the Paranid.
While the beginning of hostilities is a long way off, I was wondering....
Does the game AI allow races to honor treaties?
If I start kicking Paranid butt, and they are in a treaty with another race, would the other race also join in the fighting?, act only in a defensive posture?, or just ignore the treaty all together?

I wouldnt of thought so, the only thing I know is that you starting killing people then its decided good or bad by the owner race of the sector and their relation to the ship owner. ie. Xenon evil to all, so a xenon kill in Argon space equals good, however Argon likes Boron, so a Boron kill in Argon space is bad.

Interesting...
So if I keep my activities in Paranid sectors, I shouldn't expect interference from other races.
BTW, I will follow the established "Rules Of War".
Attacks will only be made against legitimate military targets
So long as the Paranid follow the rules also.
I won't be going out to completely annihilate the Paranid as a race.
Civilians will not be targeted...if I can avoid it

Does that mean you'll not be targeting their stations/factories then? I only ask as despite what the factories produce, chances are they have a civilian workforce. You could argue that only weapons factories should be targeted, as food/energy production would be like hunting farmers...

In the real world, weapons factories are manned not by soldiers, but by workers looking to earn a living. I think your only legitimate station targets might be shipyards and perhaps equipment docks, but then again, merchants have to buy their gear somewhere.
You could consider the sector defenders as military targets though, for sure. Perhaps their secret nividium processing factories could be up to no good as well!

Military ships, all sizes, will be targets.
Military Outposts, and Orbital Weapons' Platforms for sure.
Shipyards, Trading Posts, and Equipment Docks could also be targeted if they become hostile by launching fighters.
Bio-food, Food, and Mining operations and commercial shipping will not be targets.
It's war, not genocide.
I plan to hit them with a fleet of 4 Boreas, backed up with some Aquilo missile frigates, Carrick anti-fighter frigates, and some escort Gladiators.
But please, don't tell the Paranid what's coming...

You are a better man than me! I'd kill 'em all. The warriors, the civvies, the women, (are there Paranid women? Anyone?) the children...especially the children.
Supercilious bunch of condescending religious nutjobs!
I don't like the Paranid very much...

Really.....
One has to remember, Kirlack...shit happens in war.
Weapons are firing, missiles are being launched, ships are doing extreme maneuvers....
My heart would go out to any unfortunate and totally unintentional casualties.

You are a true soldier, sir.
I'm waging war continuously in my X3 game. But my enemies are the Xenon and Khaak. Quarter is neither requested nor granted.

As it should be! The machines should have their memory banks wiped so they might understand who the true masters are, and the bugs deserve to be exterminated! Anyone got a number for a good fumigation service?

I've been thinking about the Yaki lately.
They do not hate me, but they don't actually love me either.
Sometimes I can dock at their Shipyard in Senator's Badlands, and sometimes I can't.
I'm thinking about aligning a pair of Hub Gates to Senator's Badlands and Ocracoke's Storm...or Savage Spur and Ocracoke's Storm.
The Yaki don't openly/actively trade for goods so going through the Hub shouldn't be a problem for them...and they HATE the Paranid more then Kirlack and I do. That makes them nice people in my book!
The Paranid Military go into Savage Spur a lot. But I can't recall ever seeing any of their ships making it into Ocracoke's Storm. As soon as any Paranid ships make it to the edge of the asteroid field, the Yaki are all over them.
If I park a M2 or two at the Hub Gate closest to the Paranid space, that should handle any of their ships that make it that far. Plus having a Trade Station/Post in the Hub as a firebase will help.
Ocracoke's Storm and Senator's Badlands have some nice asteroids for building missile complexes. Drop an Equipment Dock or two and I have a nice 'parking lot' for capital ships.
I think I can open a hole in the asteroid field in Savage Spur making it easier to get to and from the Gate to Empire's Edge. I can do this by placing mining facilities on most of the "good" (medium to high yield) and towing them out of the way...or just blasting the low and zero yield ones then having freighters 'collect rocks'.
This should make it easier and safer for my capital ships to transit the asteroid field.
If the Paranid follow me into these sectors, the Yaki will then become unknowing allies!
At least in my way of thinking.
**Just putting some stuff in my mind down in 'print' so I can hash it over again later....

Tow the asteroids. If you destroy them they will respawn eventually.
