Can Equipment Docks be added to Complexes?
Can you connect 2 or more together?

It's not what someone has done..it's about what they are about to do!

Thanks Scott.
If you can't with an Argon, you can't with any other species' Equipment Docks.

Oh well...it was just a thought.

Yeah that would be a neat way to expand product storage and handling options. Too bad. Would also have been nice to be able to connect things to the headquarters in Reunion so that production needs to build ships could be met automatically. I think the issue is that these unusual stations weren't designed with connection points for inclusion in a complex. Their unusual mix of capabilities may have presented some programming challenges to simply adding them to a complex. For instance, if the equipment dock now allows you to dock TL's to your complex, where do they go? How does the game ensure another part of the complex doesn't block the docking area? These additional issues probably weren't worth solving just to allow the incorporation of such unusual station types into complexes.

Nope, you cant add them - although what would adding an trade / equipment dock do? One suggestion to ego would be to allow you to attach an equipment so you can dock larger ships at a complex. Atm they are just a waste of money.

As far as I've heard....and I could be completely wrong...
No...neither can "make" anything.

If you have a Complex working, you can move goods to either and then it can be set up to sell the goods.

I remember reading somewhere that the Equipment Docks you own (the player) can't do upgrades.
Some just use them for storage goods and docking the ships in their fleet.

Neither trading stations nor equipment docks can be used for much, except parking ships (teladi trading station does make a nice firebase though).

Theoretically, you could drop a trading station in a sector and add all the wares used by every system in a 2-4 jump radius, then set up CAGs to buy/sell those goods, which should generate some profit and help keep the local economy afloat. If you produce those goods you could even set up a CLS or 2 to transfer those goods from your production point to the trading station, so your CAGs are only selling, thus making more profit. I think some of the regulars on the ES boards have done this, but I've not tried it myself.

EqDs are largely useless though, park a couple of capital size ships at them and you're kinda done. I suppose you could try the same thing as with the Trading Station, but the EqDs seem to hold a tiny amount of stock.

I'm planning on adding 2 Equipment Docks to "my sector" that will have the missile complexes M7M need/use.
These 2 Equipment Docks will be a place to keep my M7M's when not in use.
When the missile complexes get too full, I'll move missile to the EqD for storage.
Although the M7M's I have (2) and the those I plan to add (2) to the fleet have really good cargo space(s).

Once I complete the Plot that gives you the PHQ, I will place EqD's in that sector also to park my M7's and TL's.

I started looking into use of Trade Station/Equipment Docks after reading this thread on the ES forum. Look at Kor'ahs post about halfway down. That's where I got the 'firebase' idea. You might be able to get a similar thing to work with EqDs and cap ships. A destroyer and carrier for instance, with corvette escorts?

What makes equipment docks particularly useful as firebases is the fact that when you dock your capital ship with yours, it can be used to recharge the shields instantly, instead of having to wait (in Reunion, up to an hour) for shields to recharge. I plan on using them this way to wage continuous war in enemy sectors.
