I just did a count of M3's and M4's in my fleet.
I have 62 fighters.
Yeah yeah yeah, I'm a pack-rat. Been collecting them since the beginning of the game.

Well I decided it was time to do something with them all. Seventy-seven days, and 8+ hours into this game (game time) and I'm finally going to clean out my closet.

I have some 'groups' of fighters like Nova Raiders (10), Nova Vanguards (8 ), Xenon L's (6), Xenon M's (6).
But the remaining 32 fighters are a mixed-bag. I have some pairs, a few trips, but most are single models.

I've collected all the "free" ones available in the game, have bought many that were offered for sale, and I purchased some just because.
In my defense, I've sold just about as many as I've kept, but still.....

I really have to do something with all this clutter!

I have a number that are assigned to ships that can dock fighters: my escort TL, M7's, and TM's.
I'm starting to make flights of 3 or 4 fighters to assign to my Stations and Complexes.
Decent 'pairs' will be assigned to my other TL's.

This still leaves a number of fighters I don't want/need.
I have always upgraded new fighters with all the upgrades and software.
So as I buy/acquire those models that I want/need, I won't have to jump around to kit them out.

When it comes to selling these "extras", I know I can get better prices at Shipyards that are different races then the race that 'builds' the ship. I can even get a good price at the same race's Shipyard if that particular Shipyard doesn't sell this model/variance.

I see from the "Show Us Your Fleet" posts that many of you keep your fleet size a lot more manageable then I do.
I always think I will do that..sell off most of my fleet (which stands at a total of 157 ships right now).
But I like having a ship, or ships, that can handle most jobs and missions.

Anyway, I'm typing this with the front of my mind as I try to figure out what to do with the back of my mind.

I second that!

I normally pick a particular type of ship for a particular job. I like Kestrels as my fast attack dogs, Eclipse as the defensive wing for carriers and most TLs, Solano for the aggro wing on a carrier, Cerberus/Astreus as complex defence, with Heavy Dragon support...

My point is, once you know what you like/need the rest is just taking up docking slots Wink

Keep the unique/rare ones that you might have picked up for reverse engineering at the PHQ and then just sell the rest. You can always buy a fleet of them when you need them

You're right about them just taking up docking space until they are 'homed' to a ship or station.

Without wanting to sound like a show off...my current fighter count is somewhere in the 200 range... Big grin

That's great!
Once I have the fighters that I'm planning on, and as I said, and they are 'homed' to something, I could see my fleet having more fighters then I presently have.
I don't know about 200+, but definitely more then I have now...and the ones that I want!

It's not what someone has done..it's about what they are about to do!
