I've just come across a couple of 'merged-asteroids' in the Tears of Greed Sector.
Just out of curiosity could you place 2 mines on these guys?
Both of the merged-asteroids that I've scanned have the same quantity of minerals.
I'm not planning to mine asteroids with the amounts of minerals these guys have, at least not at the moment.
But I'm curious. Could 2 mines be built on them?

You could place to mines, however they would simply blow each other up. However you can use a hornet missile on one of the rocks, then place a mine on the other. I would recommend towing the mine away, then link it to the complex (just encase the rock respawned).

Thanks Roguey.
I didn't think it would be possible.
I was just curious.
But the information about "separating" will come in handy.
I'm going to use Tears of Greed Sector for more of my Complexes.
I might just need one or two asteroids from the 'merged' ones.

You should be able to place a mine on the other one too when it respawns, which could be a long time, and tow it to a complex as well.

I thought it may, so thats why I suggested to tow the mine away encase it respawns and causes the same clipping issue later.

Separating them with a Hornet, add a mine and tow the remaining 'roid, then wait for re-spawn of the second.
Hmm...Now why didn't I think of that
Just came across a pair where both are 25 yield Ore asteroids.
Nothing great, but may be worth putting a Mine on it/them some day soon.
Thanks guys!
