Question :- What to do with all them new sectors?

Answer a) :- Mission type adding to the think side of x-universe and exploration.
When discovering an unexplored sector you get a message from
races offering a little rep gain for allowing them to occupy it.

Answer b) :- War... Fight for it

I actually sent an idea how this could work to
Cycrow who as you may or may not know did the boarding scripting
for TC. I proposed having a neutral docking station in each sector
that houses marines, even neutral sectors so it's not a pushover.
Then dock a ship with marines and have them attack.. I do like the
idea of a more dynamic universe with wars that actually have benefits.

Answer c) :- Make a new race to occupy them Wink

hmm.. I'm not 100% sure what you mean.

Do you mean that all races only start with a couple of 'owned' sectors, then as you move to new sectors they give you a race boost and 'take' over the sector?:poke

Well if you keep your old sectors as they are and add the new ones as neutral etc or new race whatever takes your fancy.

If you had a station in each sector with neutral docking, you could have sector takeover with not much scripting because its similar to how Cycrows ship capturing works. Of course to make it hard, core sectors would be full of very experienced marines.

But yeah the exploration idea is how you explained it with a little rep gain from the race you allow to occupy it.

I think I see what you mean, the trouble is if I added more sectors to TC, there's not tons of space left. My other issue is that if 'claim' a sector, isn't that a big reward? shouldnt the player have to paid heavily for a sector?

No the explorer style idea goes like this.

A) You find a sector thats not occupied.
b) You get a message from races who want the sector offering some reputation for finding it in their name.
c) Choose the race who you think deserve it and they take the sector and build in it or have the sector multi race owned like getsu fune or Akeela's beacon

like you said although, TC would need some more claimable sectors, as most of them are claimed.

hmmm.. my only trouble with this idea is that the player could place whatever race, where they want. My suggestion on this idea is the races automatically claim these sectors, however soon as this happens it turns into another 'boring' sector - TC has many of these already.

hmmm... really the X-universe needed to be rebuilt, that way we could move races to their own corners, then make them hostile to each other. I guess then every so often, a fleet own by each race is 'jumped' to a sector, in-which they fight (every so often the sector is re-tested by the other races). The winner (ie. the race with the last ship remaining) then claims the sector. For this idea although, the universe would need to be made into a 'grid', with races in their own 'corners' and lots of free sectors between them for claiming / pirate attacks. However this idea wouldnt work very well with the X-universe atm, as each race is interwoven and would lead into massive fights.

A new universe from scratch would be ideal in my opinion.I was making one myself quite a while ago and had a decent story to back it up.. If you are interested in what I planned as the story then let me know..

As for the rest I was under the impression you were going to implement your old x3 map and add the new sectors on top, but yeah I agree that alot of the sectors not just the new ones can be a little boring and a fresh universe to explore would make it more exiting.

hoe do you go abut claiming a sector? I know that are several unknown sectors but how you claim them ?

I'm not very experienced with X3TC's "inner workings" yet, but as I understand, if you find and explore an "unknown" sector...then you build/place various stations...the sector "technically" becomes yours.
I do NOT believe it will show up that way on the map, though.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct my thinking.

I have read that once you finish a particular plot mission, the reward will be a sector of your own. It's the "(HG) Headquarters Plot".

It's not what someone has done..it's about what they are about to do!

You can not claim any unknown sectors in standard games. Like cjm3fl said, you can place you stations in it and its sort-of yours.
