I had finished some other stuff I needed to do in my game and I had some time so I thought I'd to try to locate an Aran, again.
So I grabbed my untried Kraken, with 20 well trained Marines, and off I went.

Last 2 times I tried to find one I made more then 70 unfocused jumps between the both attempts (50 and 20) with no luck.
This time.....located her on my 3rd jump!!!
There she was...less then 50 km off the port bow, with the sun silhouetting her right before my eyes Eek

I followed all the advice given in Roguey's AP guide for taking an Aran. Worked just fine for my TC game. (Thanks for the easy to follow guide, Bossman)

First time--15% hull and 15 out of 20 Marines survived. Not bad..SAVED!
But I made a second attempt--15% hull, all 20 Marines survived!! SAVED and KEPT!!

Before docking with my Kraken and getting my ass out of there, I ran off to pick up the 2 Xenon L's and 1 M that were left disabled when their battle groups attacked me. After 'claiming' them, I sent them to dock with the Aran while I moved my M7M back toward the Aran.

I presently have her docked at the Split Equipment Dock in Getsu Fune.
Tomorrow I will jump her to a Shipyard for repairs...once I have her IS, I will tow her with my Tiger to the Shipyard. Then return to Getsu Fune for the rest of the software upgrades...being towed, of course!

I believe I got a photo after my Kraken docked with my brand new Aran in the sector I found here.
I will check later (it's 4am here now), and if I got it I'll take if off my gaming system and load it to my PhotoBucket for upload here.

WOW!!!
I thought it would be a much longer night trying to find one.
I got lucky, that's for sure.

congratulations on the the Aran, and im glad the guide helped Smile

You should be able to keep more or less 20 marines (depending on skills) as the Aran isnt that hard to board - the biggest challenge is finding one with enough hull. In X3AP I have mine stuck at the HQ for reserve-engineering, although it takes long time.

I did manage to get a photo right after I docked my Kraken.

Congratulations.. That Aran does make your Kraken look tiny however

thanks for showing it, Roguey.
I've seen it before but I can't remember who's it is. Who gets the credit for such a monster?
I would hate to have to fly around that thing. I would truly hate to fly around that thing in an Aran!!!

My Aran, called 'Aran' at the moment until I think of a good name, has her hull at 100%---Ooch!!! But worth the cost.
Speed, cargo space (Ouch again), and turning upgrades completed---again at some pretty high cost.
All software has been installed--thank goodness those cost the same for an Aran as they do for a Buster Dance

I had plenty of 2GJ shields in storage I didn't have to hunt those up.

I think total work on her came close to half a billion credits.

Now it's time to put her to work!

names... Leviathan? UPS warehouse? (name of any large aircraft carrier you like) ? Maybe even Pearl Harbor? (it can hold a whole fleet, and if it gets attacked it'll be ugly!)

i sometimes wish my computer would let me make the big complexes, but i have enough framerate issues that i had to go to gazz's complex cleaner mod - so all i get is huuuge borg cubes Wink

Yes.
I'll try an M6 once the Xenon move out of the area.

I know (29 x )M6's can dock with the Aran, although wasnt sure about M8's.

Okay. Good.
I've heard the same about M6's and I thought M8's could too. Now we know for sure.
I'll leave the M6's for now and just keep sneaking up on this Carrack 80k in front of me Rambo
