Finally I capped a ship a carrack50 hull and 8 ibl that alone paid for the training. lost 9 guys but I expected that. saved about every30 sec it seams. I did it once but the escorts took it out, so reloaded and took out the escorts, then got a new ship was needing a ship for sec def fence in guiding star. humm now perhaps a sister then a xneon .You guys taught me a lot about this please continue Thanks
I finally did it [boarding]

congratulations on your successful boarding. Xenon ships are much more harder to board, so I suggest you leave them alone until you have some better marines. You will find that you lose very few marines (if any) with high fighting skills, and equally find shouldnt lose any when boarding (apart from Xenon ships).

I agree with Roguey...
First...Congratulations on your first capping!!
Second, leave those Xenon ships until you have more personal experience in capturing ships AND your Marines are trained up a bit more. Xenon are notoriously difficult ships to get.
Third:
I have a post, or thread, here where I announce that I "finally" got all 150 of my Marines above 95% in all trainable skills. It was very time consuming and expensive to do this, but very much worth it.
After I got all my Marines up to more then 95% in training, I went "capping".
I took home 3 Carrack (M7), a Galleon (M1), and a Brigantine (M2) in the same Sector with the loss of only 1 Marines (2 game re-loads when my boarding pods didn't get to target(s) before the shield regenerated).
I went ahead and capped another Carrack, a Galleon, and another Brigantine (in different Sectors) with zero losses.
Any ship you 'cap' "costs" you the credits to buy and train the lost Marine(s), plus the missiles/pods used to capture the ship. What equipment you find onboard and what you get if you sell this ship might recover these costs. If your losses are high, it might not.
I say keep capping those Pirate ships.
It's great practice and you get to see the difference between capping M7's and M2's, and M1's.
Capping Pirate ships and Xenon ships is different, but knowing how to cap one will help capping the other.

I do plan keep capping pirate ships. Another Carrack then maybe a m2. Last night I said I lost 9 of my 20 well i. found 5 in my hyperion today so I may not have lost as many as I thought. Do not recall having any in there. well I plan on getting another ship after I get some more fails. Man you use a lot, glade I got 5 fac making them. well thanks for the congrats Are m2 harder? Iknow you still need 20 or do
I need more?I used all 20 for a f7.

If your marines have high enough skills then usually how many marines the ship can hold is enough to board is. ie. a M6 can hold 8, so 8 marines is enough to board one. Similarly 20 marines for a M7, or M1/2.
However you dont want to be losing 8 or 9 marines per board - otherwise its working out very costly. When buying marines get a bio-scanner and only buy marines with like 3 stars or higher in fighting (the more the better). Then train them up, as you cant train fighting skills (only by successful boardings). This should reduce the amount of marines you lose. With enough fighting skills you can board ships without losing any!

guys I got a couple of questions, if this need a new thread do it . ok 1 I noticed that it appears that ether there are a finite number of ships that the pir have is this true? I say this because I was in vestrable of creation below the boron sec by dark waters. took out a carrick and other got a few fighters, went back in today and no sec defense I could find, just a hydra. same situation in unk sec by gaian start there was 2 carricks. I got one , now just one carrick and a brigantine. in vest-able just a brig with out a polarized hull. will the missing ship respan? and if so from what shipyard ? Next question how do I get thru a polarized hull? Tried number of times to go thru a carrick with pol hull and ether need more exp or more training Also are the teldia albatross hard to cap? i was unable to was getting some exp but they kept kicking my guys but, the same ones who cap a carrick I got some with 65 to 85 on fighting got one with 100 fighting but not been used in capping yet.Lot of stuff here but I got questions. Thanks for any and all replies

Yes, any ship destroyed or borrowed will respawn after a certain amount of time (when and were is unknown). I think pirate ships respawn at gates, and not shipyards.
how do I get thru a polarized hull?

Train your marines in higher mechanical skills, or find a ship without polarized hull.

i think the number of ships in the universe is based off the Jobs data file, they are supposed to respawn at some rate, but i suspect it's a random time. I think the ships try to spawn at the closest shipyard of that race.
To get past a polarized hull device, you need high hull cutting skill on your marines - or you fry the target ship for a while with Ion Disrupters to knock the polarizer out.
The Albatross TL shouldn't be that hard, unless it has some mix of hull polarization, internal sentry lasers, advanced firewall software, or defending marines aboard.

Most of the ships are done this way, however in the job file there are flags you can set. For example, you may say summon 10 x Pirate ships. These could range from M5 to M7, and placed in any sector in the game. There is also a cooldown time too, so it could take 5-10mins before a new ship is summoned - which again could change class on spawn.

well I did it again. got a brigantine. had only a firewall software nothing else so I took it home.unfortunately only got 6 ion disputer out of it but i take that give them time and exp and nothing will get messed up.Steady seeing the fighting exp going up I lost only 1 this time.got 50 hull on it so not to bad
. This site is great I am very glade I found this site.
Has anyone seen a difference in the type of training that is given in the different places/ what about finding fight exp? has anyone found any in the 90s at a outpost or base? Thanks

How hard is it to cap the pir. bird farm? I tried several times ,it had no pol hull, or anything else same guys who took my brig. The front guns must have been set for missile defense.
only thing I see possible. Anybody else have this problem?
