Gamepad throttle

Playing this on steam deck (docked) but I seem to have an issue where the throttle returns to zero when released playing with a Gamepad. Keyboard keeps the throttle set to wherever you set it to https://19216811.cam/ https://1921681001.id/. Can I set the gamepad to do the same?
