Gamepad throttle ..?

Playing this on steam deck (docked) but I seem to have an issue where the throttle returns to zero when released playing with a Gamepad 10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254. Keyboard keeps the throttle set to wherever you set it to. Can I set the gamepad to do the same?
