this is for talking about this guide http://apricotmappingservice.com/x3handbook.html
As far as tips and how it pertains to this mods as well as tips for just for this mod.

Tip for any game/mod: Don't buy a M1 just cause you have the money you need something to keep money coming in for it.You need weapons wares shields and 40 or so ships that also need weapons shields wares. And dont forget the repair bills. You need a lot of money coming in to keep it up and running 100%

Solitude is impractical and yet society is fatal.

Ok, so I've been working on my HQ, and it's supporting complexes a bit these days. I learned a couple of things in the process, might be of interest to you, might help you, or might bore you to death :P

So here goes:
1) DON'T EVEN TRY making complexes with the ingame tools. It's frikkin impossible. Rather look at the 3rd party scripts.

2) A.R.E.S. is a nice script, but I had some trouble with it. It get's big points for being the easiest to use and faster to do. it's a nice plugin, give it a shot.

3) TCM Tubeless complexes, is a mod, that removes the ugly fuzzy tubes from the game...well not really but as far as you (the user) is concerned they are gone, and that is a GOOD thing. Less collsion computing == More FPS, with the added benefit of complexes looking better without the frikkin spagheti mass of tubes all around the sector.

4) FCC or Factory Complex Constructor, is a tool, well it's something the ego should've done in the first place. this is how complexes are supposed to be created. Together with the Tubeless mod, this is quite the perfect combination for making/changing/moving/complexes and stations. There is one BIG downside through. it takes time...well more then with A.R.E.S. but still not that much....a couple minutes more then with the game.

5) if you can, disable collision for your complexes, your FPS will got over the roof, and the stupid AI won't crash into them.

6) There is a tool for relocating your HQ. it costs 2.2M to relocate so it's not really cheating, oh and you loose all the progress it made for RE or Building, including the ship that was being RE'd.

7)There is a script to move stations around....well it packs it up and sends it to you TL, and it costs a bit (think 20% of the station price, and you loose all wares), doesn't work nicely with mines through, since it takes the station and destroys the asteroid.

For those that think of bashing me for relocating my HQ: like you never destroyed a station cheated in the money, just to set it up somewhere else! I just relocated my HQ cause there was too much trafic in that sector, and my FPS went underground!

thanks for that info, i didn't know there were complex creation systems like this. the tubeless mod sounds awsome too.

i kinda want to pick up X3 again now. i never did get far into the game. every time i got to the point where i had a good ammount of income, and a wealth of ships, i would get sidetracked and lose intrest.

I know what you mean m8 Big grin
Same happened to me a couple of time, but like many suggest go roleplaying, choose a character, fit the name etc. choose a mission and follow it. I have Xenon Migration installed and they overun quite a few sectors with J's, K's etc. I had a HARD time clearing Ocean Of Fantasy, just to get the shipyard back.... So for me the mission is to take down the xenon, sector by sector, but not the easy way, setting xenon migration on medium for now, but soon it will go to hard, just to make them hate me more Big grin

Anyway, there are lot's of tools for almost anything you want, so just ask what you're looking for and maybe someone knows.

I'm gonna try and write more guides and script/mod reviews, just bear in mind that I play with Rogueys mod and Classic Rules, so all I say is for that, I don't really care for vanilla or XTM. Big grin

I guess sometimes the amount of content can be overwhelming for many - so many great scripts that I end up with the basics Smile

what maybe a good idea (if your willing).. what about a run-down of your recommended scripts? It could be done like this?

If you wanted, I could probably code something so you could add to a list. hmm.. it could be something like script review. Where you can add your thoughts on scripts.

I assume that was aimed at me :P
Well already working on it, you did delete the post I made, when I added to the scripts post Big grin
Gonna give more a shot, but like you said, it's kinda overwhelming, and I'm probably not going to try every single one, but when I face a problem or something I think should be changed or have a script for it, I'm looking around, and sometimes find a couple which I then all try Big grin
I will keep posting stuff for this, but for now, like I said I want to dedicate some time to the ship classes and variants explanations. This should help a lot of folks.

So far only script I'm looking for (well I'll just do it myself once I get the hq.xml file :P) is the HQ RE/Production time problem. I've calculated that in the time it costs me to RE/Build a ship I make the money to just buy and outfit it completely, and it's not even really much cheaper using the HQ for production, so I'm going to change the times used for rebuilding, atleast this way it will make "some" sense to even have the HQ, and like me drop 100M into a sector just to support it.

oh, I thought you wrote at the bottom of that post: delete me? so I did Smile

and yea it was aimed at you :P

What was meaning with the guide is not posted on the forum but on the X3 site under help. That way pictures / html formatting can be added to make it look better... it could be called NetHawk guides to X3 scipts Smile

read it, it's nice, but I found a little problem with it. Wanted to tell you on IRC but here goes, the links are not included.
More so, I did write for stand-alone use (thought about PDF), but if you prefer it posted on there, I'm gonna rewrite it for HTML, that should make your day easier Big grin

Funny thing but I'm not used to having my name in the title of anything. More used to being writen somewhere deep in comments (code) Big grin

Anyway, gonna get to work a little more on that. reading it myself I found a couple things I want to change, like I said, it's just a raw draft Big grin
Other then that I love the idea, maybe it will come in handy to more folks Big grin

Here are a couple answers from some threads:
Auto Hull Repair System
First of, the auto hull repair system is a ship upgrade that will Automatically repair your hull...who would've guessed that one?
Well, it took some time to figure out, but it ONLY works once your shields are 100% charged.
another thing about it, it's meant for capitals and M6 and bigger ships, this is why it costs that much. That kinda was my suggestion, so ...blame me.

500/800/Military Shields
Simple, there are no stations which "produce" those kinds of shields. So if you plan on building/having this kind of ships, grab a TS or something to store 'em at.
The reasons for this are simple, adding *any* station to the game, is kinda tricky and would probably result in either more CPU usage or breaking compatibility with something, neither of which is acceptable for the mod in general.
There are a couple stations selling those kinds of shields. But that's kind of for you to explore. Look for Equipment Docks.
#############################################################
That being said, I am thinking of adding stations for this on my to-do list. I got the idea down on how to do it, I just don't like the execution for now. IF I manage to find a way that doesn't take much CPU resources then maybe it will be made.
##############################################################

Sector Claiming
Ok, this is going to be simple, there is a hotkey to be set for this to work. Check under
Options -> Interface (somewhere in the end).
Now, the trick here is, you can't claim a sector that doesn't have an owning race. Doesn't matter which race is the owning one, there just has to be one. There is an exception to this rule, the exception is the Khaak start, if you play as the khaak you can easily, claim ANY sector you want.
There are more rules through. Well, only 1, the owning race must have no-presence AT ALL in the sector you're trying to claim. Simply put: No ships, no Stations, nothing.
Ok, now you're all set, and claim a sector...but hey you lost HEAPS of recognition with that race, well....that happens if you take a sector from someone!

There are 4 buyable sector in the game!
So, you like sectors? want your own? well you can take it from someone, or just buy one...the second variant is easier. Now, in Vanilla you have 1 buyable sector, the mod introduces the other 3. They are not cheap through.
