I was just playing some X3 and finished the data card missions and got the Wulfen. That ship is absolutely beastly, mainly because it can mount 4 GPSGs - 2 on either side.

Now I don't know about you guys, but I don't use PSGs much because of friendly-fire so I couldn't really tell you how good they are. I mean, I always knew the Gamma ones were pretty powerful.

I was hanging out in Loomankstrat's Legacy (or whatever it's called) and the surrounding sectors taking out M3-M5s quite handily so I mosey on over to the east where the main pirate sectors are. I find a pirate M2 (a shark) so I decide to test out the Wulfen on it. I start shooting it with my BHEPTS and circle it. Then my GPSGs start shooting. Dude's shields were gone in <10 seconds. From what I can tell, PSGs do area damage so the bigger the ship the more damage. Ridiculous. So, I've designated my Wulfen to do solo-ops where I have to kill a bunch of enemies where there aren't any friendlies around.

Any of you guys use PSGs for anything? They're pretty ridiculous if there are no friendlies around.

hi, I am not a fan of the PSG's either - the AI is too hostile when one of your turrets hits a station or ship by accident (which happens far too often).

i agree, fighting around friendlies with PSG's is too dangerous. i never knew that they did more damage to larger hulled ships though, that's interesting. so for doing battle in enemy territory, a lone M7 decked out in GPSG's would be perfect huh?

now if only they didn't lagg my computer, lol.

If I remember correctly a Paranid M2 with lots of G-PSG do massive amounts of damage in vanilla, sort-of like cheating.
