I've just finished the HQ plot, after completing the HUB. However, no message came to me, as the guide says it's supposed to.

I started as Argon Peacekeeper, done the main plot, then the Hub one and right now I've finished the HQ plot, which means that I own the Hub, and I also have UFJD in my inventory. I haven't bought the HQ yet because I have invested most of my cash into shares and I just don't have enough right now anyways. But it isn't written anywhere that I need to build the HQ for other plots to start.

If there is any delay between when the message starts, how long is it? Or do I have to trigger the plot in any other way?

You also need trade rank 15 (Petty Financier). Source: Egosoft official FAQ
