Been playing TC and AP for around 100 hours and I've got some lingering questions, specifically about AP

Is there some way to adjust follow or protect command distance? My light ships keep circling me faster than my gunship and frequently getting close enough to disable SETA .

Is there a way to get the computer to shut up? I want to keep the sound on to hear story mission dialogue and ideally missile warnings but hearing the computer read literally everything I click on is infuriating. I've turned the verbose option off but that doesn't really help when I'm rapidly flipping between targets in combat.

How exactly does Auto-Aim work? Is it for boresight fire (do I need to keep the target centered if that's so)? Is it more reliable than just doing it myself with auto-aim set on semi?
