Hi all, im quite new to the X3:AP game. Want to share something i discovered which might be a blessing, spoiler, bug, exploit. Here goes.

Most shipyards have hidden equipment lists. To check what they will buy/sell, simply park or buy an empty ship and click to upgrade it. There, you can see the equipment/ware list for the specific shipyard.

Example:
Ceo's Sprite - Energy Bolt Chaingun, Firestorm Torp, Flail Missile, Hammer Heavy Torp, Tomahawk missile, and some others.
The Moon - PSP, Starbust Shockwave Cannon, Wraith Missile, Shadow Missile, EMPC and some others.

Here is the interesting part. Buy 2 or more cheapest TS. Lets assume 2. Click on the new "equip x ships at once" to upgrade x number of identically equiped ships. x=2 in this example and assume you are parked at the shipyard in Ceo's Sprite, and that all the hidden wares have at least 1 for sale (if not, simply sell 1 via another ship using "upgrade this ship".

Upgrade 2 ships at once:
1)Shipyard has 1/16 hammer torp for sale.
2)Buy 1 hammer. Ships has 1 hammer torp each. Total hammer now = 2 LOL
3)Sell 1 hammer. Shipyard now has 2/16 hammer for sale.
4)Directly buy 2 hammer at once. Ships have 2 hammers each. Shipyard 0. Total hammers = 4 LOL
5)Sell 2 hammers at once. Shipyard now have 4/16 hammers for sale.
6)Buy 4 hammers at once. Total hammers now = 8 LOL
7)Sell 4 hammers at once. Shipyard now have 8/16 hammers for sale.
8]Buy 8 hammers at once. Total hammers now = 16.
9)Sell 8 hammers at once. Shipyard now have 16/16 hammers for sale.
10)Buy all 16 at once. Hammers in TSs = 32. Sell 8 hammers. Hammers in TSs= 16. Hammers in Shipyard=16.
11)Buy all 16 at once. Hammers in TSs = 48. Sell 8 hammers. Hammers in TSs= 32. Hammers in Shipyard=16.
12)Buy all 16 at once. Hammers in TSs = 64. Sell 8 hammers. Hammers in TSs= 48. Hammers in Shipyard=16.
13)... Repeat and get 16 more hammers for each iteration until you are bankrupt/out of cargo space.

The more number of ships (e.g. x= 16), the faster you can fill up your TSs and bankrupt yourself.
However, i am unable to find IBL/Ghoul missile in any shipyard's list accessible in my game.

I think the fault is that the "upgrade x ships at once" failed to stop the trade if number of wares available <x.

However, you still need to pay the average price for each ware you "purchased in bulk" and this, in a way, suits my small and casual playing style (i dont do boarding). Me like to go J/K/I/Q hunting in a panther raider/cobra since playing in a M2 makes me fall asleep/bored. Cry

The game create ships out of thin air to kill each other and for players to board and earn credits and wares anyways. And this method simply evens out certain supply issues, when for goodness's sake, its only the player that is actually using the weapons/munitions/shields that are really produced in factories.

Thank you for reading and hope it helps for players like me!

the reason why you see those is because of the EQUIPMENT docks in the sectors (Or at least military bases in Terran space)

Thank you Jack, for explaining that to me. I tried placing a EQ dock with Ghoul missiles and IBLs as wares, but they don't appear in the NPC shipyard. I guess player-owned EQ docks do not link up with NPC shipyards Cry

Well, at least we can still bulk purchase shadow missiles at the Moon shipyard for use in the Skirnir. Maybe just use a CW M7M escort for the Flail missiles. Smile

Woho, neat idea using the add wares to clone wares. Although I guess still you got to pay for them, but I could see this being useful for many.

Unfortunately adding new wares in player EQ docks did not enable new types of wares to be cloned in NPC shipyards for me (Ghoul missile ,IBL & PBG). But the default list of wares that can be cloned using the "upgrade x ships at once" is still very impressive as long the player can afford it Smile

As mentioned in 1st post, notable high-grade wares can be cloned at shipyards:
1)Arming a Terran Fleet is now much easier at The Moon shipyard - Point Singularity Projector, Starburst Shockwave Cannon, Shadow Missile, Wraith Missile, EMPC etc. As Jack pointed out, we can check what wares we can clone by simply checking the in-sector npc EQ docks or terran Military Bases.

2)Ceo's Sprite shipyard is the hassle-free place to get shiploads of flails, boarding pods and hammer heavy torps to create HUGE 4th of July fireworks by your M7Ms. Typhoon missiles can be done too at another teladi shipyard.

3)More generic wares such as shields and lasers have more shipyards that you can utilize to clone. E.g. PPC in Argon Prime shipyard.

in AP there are a few little tricks like this... your EQd aint very useful at all... the NPC EQd's get linked to the Shipyards which means whatever wares the EQd's have can be purchased via the shipyard and that equip ship system.

this does give you the ability to "clone" wares... by purchasing multiple ships and equiping all at the same time... that means if your equiping 10 ships and have them buy 2 PPC's each will buy 2 PPC's, can be handy when trying to setup ships before building up your own complex's to feed your empire... one shipyard id make note of is CEO's Sprite, there you can clone M7M missiles as well as boarding pods because its the Military Outpost thats linked to the Shipyard and not an EQd. ive found in my AP games they aint that easy to build up without your own complex. this can allow you to do that. there is also the freight drone exploit that Bothersome posted onto the egosoft forums. that one does not get you to pay for the wares but can allow you to clone stations as well... most importantly the PHq.

Hi ConCordian. Yeah i did come across certain information about cloning wares and even PHQ in the egosoft forum. But to be able to clone free wares and stations, that would spoil the entire game for me.

The simple "pay as you clone" shipyard trick is good enough for me, since it is very similar to buying M5-M3+ ships with "M" or "L" that comes with some default equipments. It increases the supply of high-end wares to a more realistic level, as long as i can afford them.

Flying, supporting and managing a fast light carrier like Captain Eisen (WC3 and 4) is fun & complex enough for me at this stage of playing. Would not play fleet action like Admiral Tolwyn due to:
1) I have a low spec pc Cry
2) Dislike wanton destruction (except against pirates and xenon)
3) Dislike imperialism LOL

i defo agree with you, i dont use it much at all, for the same reason it would kind of ruin the starting grind which i quite enjoy.

where i do use it is to clone PHq's or in a previous save i wasn't fast enough fixxing my Terran rep and i lost the Aldrin weapon plants so when i got a hold of a few dropped or from capped ships i cloned them since there was no other way for me to get them. to compensate i normally add up how much my cloning cost and ill buy that amount in wares, drop it into space then turn and blow them up. for me that way ive at least paid the price.

i normally end up with big fleets, just the way it goes, i think a lot of the experianced players are starting to find it pretty easy to build up finances that quickly that building fleets becomes easy. and thats without exploits. i suppose its just the age of the game now people have got used to it. thats why im looking forward to Rebirth, with a supposed new economy and it being a new game entirely im hoping it will take me a while to get to a stage of building fleets quickly. and i can enjoy a nice long grind at the start of each new game!!

Yeah, i too actually find the starting grind enjoyable and challenging. I liked the part of trying to farm credits, thinking high and low about which new ship to buy and watching my factories start making wares and the $ rolling in! Smile

Hope Rebirth will be released before Christmas ^_^

it will all depend on Gamescon i think. if they are their with a nice big trailer and new info then they will probably be on track for a 2012 release, if they aint there then id be kinda surprised if it still comes out this year.
