Ok first and foremost this is a short guide on how to make the best possible fleet that is focused on:
Strike tactics, Defend Tactics and Boarding tactics.
There are two types of fleets:
Fooder Fleet and Strike Fleet.

Fooder Fleet:
Consists of the vast amount of M5/M4/M3 Fighters (minimum 100-150) + 3 M1 + 2 M2
This is basically the Defend Tactic fleet which can be used to Attack/Defence tactic of your sectors or your stations, it can also be used for strike purposes but not as powerful as Strike Type Fleet.
PROS: Fighters do a job while you can relax in your flagship and mock the enemy
M1 Ships are doing a job for you. DUH!
If enemy get pass the Fighter/M1 blockade theyre dead.
Weaknesses:
M7M Frigates/Missile Barrage/Flails/Hammers
M8
M2+ Destroyers (but without escort theyre doomed)

This type of fleet most players will use, but at much higher cost of money and resources.

Strike Fleet:
Consists of:
Powerful M2+ Destroyers (I, Kyoto, Megalodon...), M7M frigates, at least 2 M7 and tons of M6/M8
The most powerful type of the fleet you can come buy as a monster blockade option/Strike/Boarding Tactics:
2-3 x Xenon I, 1 x M7M, 1 x Kyoto + his M6 Fleet and backup M8 (any).

Pros :
Enourmous attack power
Blokade possibility
Boarding possibility
Destruction from a distance + up close (but not as effective as from the distance)

Cons:
Tactic works best from the distance (mainly because of lack of fooders (fighters) to absorb enemy fire)
Ressuply problems (missiles for Xenon I and M7M)
Demanding/Finantially tactic that requires very good game start (Bankrupt Assassin/Humble Merchant)

Ill update the guide a little bit more with some boarding tactics im using on vanilla environment without mods installed.
Until then i hope you like where im getting with this especially for new players.

Hello XeNoN,

What about a small fleet at the time i don't have that 50+ millions Cr yet, i'm talking about a fleet that would have a fleet commander of a heavy M6 class corvette (e.g Heavy Centaur), any good info on what should this fleet look like (in terms of its ships, commands ...etc)?
And for that small fleet, could a wing instead be better (easier to command or something). i mean when should one set up a wing rather than a fleet in such case?

And yeah you are right, its a waste of time to give much thinking about Wing Formations, just pick up any one as if you are selecting a color or something.

There is no accually wing "formation" i never used it in game and i think its waste of time to think about...
Anyway what youre saying about a small fleet type i already mentioned up there, its a fooder type fleet. You can do this only 1-2 corvettes and lets say 20 fighters or 10.
What im suggesting if youre having credit issues try this:
If youre playing Bankrupt Assassin or freakishly hot pirate Big grin (its a girl as you already know) then go to Hatikvah's Faith and farm for fighters there! Also you'll boost your fight rank, dont quit until you got at least 10 M3 capped fithters the best prey are:
Medusa, Advanced Mamba and occasionally Chimera can be found or even Venti, then sell them on shipyards you could get ~10-20 kk credits (20 mills), go to Split sector and pump your racial relations with them and buy a Dragon or Heavy Dragon, do some Assassin missions to get even more money or you can take station building missions (Family Pride).
Just remember if you wanna keep it small it will do you no good vs 2 or more capital ships except if you already have good fighter wing.
Anyway imo the fleet should look like for you:
2x Corvettes (for start fast ones like Dragon or Heavy Dragons with Firestorms or some other good missiles)
20 x M3 Fighters with HEPT's or PBG's with good missiles.
The tactic should be for you: get better corvette or rush for Panther (M7). Personally i would go for panther to carry your fighter wing rather than go for the new corvettes or try to cap new corvettes.
Tactics:
If youre vs lets say M7's like Carrack, just send 10 of your M3's to carrack so they can absorb fire and cover you while you pwn its ass. Or you can be like rambo and test your luck with Firestorms its really up to you.
If you need credits just take assassin missions or Hold Position missions in: Black Hole Sun, Zyarth's Dominion, Grand Exchange and Meneleaus Paradise (in AP Grand Exchange is the best choice because its almoust always either Kill All Xenon, Hold Position or Xenon Patrol mission) also dont forget to be salvager.
The Grand Exchange in my oppinion is the best way to farm either new ships or sell them.
There is not much to talk about this because i think its the waste of time and your credits, personally i always go for strike type of fleet.

Now let me tell you some dangerous action i'm going to do...!

But first...,
The reason i sayed a small fleet is that i spent just 3 game-days (playing "Argon Patriot" by the way), and i'v managed to capture about 15 M3 Fighters (sold them all) and boarded about 12 TM (Chokaros & Caravels, sold them all) and more than 12 Pirate Corvettes (sold them too).

Plus the Hyperion Vanguard (Its a Paranid High Command Ship you know, of course i kept this one for myself).
Yes i'm not so interested in capturing Fighters as, you know, there are many Shipyards out there, hence many Fighters, and if i'm interested in some rare Fighters, I just acquire one ship such as the Xenon LX and then reverse-engineer it (once I have acquired my PHQ), obtain the blueprint for it and then build any number of it as much as i want. So i'm rather interested in boarding Capital Ships for more fun and profits.

The reason why i now don't have much Credits is that i'v spent 10s of millions on marines as i'm now training about 124 marines. i intended to invest time, so as to train marines as fast as possible.

So now i'v the Hyperion, the Kha'ak Corvette (fully equipped whith Beta KEs, 153 m/s speed, that of the Kha'ak Fighter, and enhanced steering, pandora crates you know), a Heavy Centaur, some tough Fighters and an M8 Gladiator.

And i'v learned that boarding capital ships is one of the fastest ways to make 100s of millions of Credits, but as i said i just played 3 game-days only and i'v spent most of the Credits on marines for future purposes. And Credits is not everything, playing the game with different styles is what is all about, right? (i.e sometimes Combat/Boarding, some other time Building, Trading, managing Fleets/Wings, ...etc)


i presume you prefer Xenon ships? is that right? me too, but not all of them. So i'm looking forward to board some Xenon corvettes, i now have 9 "100% Fighting Skill" marines, is that enough? or there is something else is required (and do i lose marines even when boarding Xenon CORVETTES?)

i know that the other option is to start a new level of boarding (i.e TLs, M7s, and may be some M1 carriers like the Duke's Zeus), but i don't have enough credits to buy an M7M ship and don't want to capture a friendly one, and if boarding the Xenon PX does not involve marine losses, i'd prefer capturing Xenon Ps and PXs first, then move on to the next level.


On the other hand, the dangerous action i'm talking about is:

i want to play as a Terran Commander (keeping the other game to be continued later), but i think the game might not be optimized for this kind of "Game Start" (i mean its much harder especially if i plan to look at most of non-terran races as foes), so boarding may be harder (but there must be a way for acquiring marines and training them) and so as building empire. But i still agree to take the challenge and make my way up to...hmm... lets see...

The challenge is that i would like to show those aliens the true meaning of fear!!, and teach them how to respect us!! (yeah, that could be risky, but they are the ones who fear us right?, soon they will learn). Things are getting hot from now on.

The ATF Ships, Xenon Ships (Reverse-engineering them, you know the rest) plus some advanced Terran Ships, are the "Chosen Ones", i think, to build the formidable ATF-USC-Xenon Fleet under the leadership of the Valhalla, what do you think??

Now here is the interesting part (i expect some comments for this one at least, please), to figure out (and then execute) what could be the Ultimate Fleet (if i'm right) in this case:

For me, i think:

The ATF Flagship Valhalla + 10 ATF Corvettes (Vidars and Valis) docked at the Valhalla + 50 Best ATF-USC Fighters in the Hanger standing by. The Valhalla should be (i think) the Fleet Commander, (note that we can enhance the speed of it to be [36 m/s] and steering to [0.8 rpm], i'd save couple of pandora crates for this (4 ET and 5 RO))

2 ATF Tyrs. A Wing for the Valhalla. Each Tyr has 2 ATF Escort Aegirs (Total of 4 Aegirs)
2 Skirnirs. Another Wing for the Valhalla. We can build "Shadow Missile Construction Facility" but for the "Ghoul", we need to trade with the two stations: one in "Venus" and the other one in the fourth "Unknown Sector" beyond "Oort Cloud".

1 Woden + 1 Odin + many ATF Fighters in the Hangers. These Two are our secondary Bases and Support for the Fleet. Also the Valhalla can Support.
+ some other ATF Escort Corvettes to Support the Woden and Odin + another 4 ATF Escort Aegirs (2 for each of the Carriers).

1 Kyoto + 5 Katanas docked at the Kyoto + many USC Fighters in the Hanger + 2 Xenon Q Escorting the Kyoto for even more power. This is one Strike-Force.

1 Xenon K + 1 Xenon J filled with many Xenon Fighters (build these Fighters at the PHQ you know) + a lot of Xenon Corvettes (P and PX, Build them too) escorting the K and the J. This is another Strike-Force.

2 Xenon I + 10 Xenon PX + 2 more Xenon Q + say 3-5 Claymores. Each Xenon I has 1 Q and 5 PX escorting. This is a Standby Backup Force (or Rapid Response).


This list is just a quick overview, may be i find better ideas once i'v reached that level, if... i reached it!...

And for supplies for Xenon Ships, we should go in good terms with the alien races until (this is not the way i should do it, but it is just a game!!) we acquire the technology we need (stations for manufacturing Lasers, Missiles and some other things) then turn back hostile as we should be!!

And for marines, I shall try "Rehabilitation Facilities", don't you think?


I shall after all say that i just think what could be the game as a Terran Commander (a "Real" Terran Commander!)?. But the actual deal is not completely known for me, still... i want to do it!! What about you? any comments, if you see me wrong and should abort playing as a Terran Commander and better return back to the Argon Patriot one and continue it, please let me know so as not to proceed and waste much time playing that role, thanks...

About Xenon ships, yes i like them ofc because some people dont understand their true power especially fully equipped Xenon I, currently im modifing Cadius's XTRA SHippack (to increase deadliness of all ships especially alien type ones (Khaak and Xenon)).
Anyway this is a nice plan you have i agree but first solve things with yourself, get more credits, M7M and just board the ships, until you got property worth of 300 mill credits then you can think about Valhalla and that sort of type of fleet you wished for.
But i advise you if you dont have Cadius XTRA Shippack installed dont bother get the valhalla becuase Vanilla one is bugged.
While Valhalla is great for Mothership its speed isnt its golden part, personally Xenon I can pwn her like a bug, why you ask?
Here is the answer:
Xenon I has decent speed for M2+ ship (48.9 m/s) Steering (0.5), but it has deadly feature which is Missile Barrage (im sure you know how to use it), Commands-Additional Ship commands-2. Missile Barrage.
With only 24-27 Firestorms Valhalla is tosted from a distance...
Anyway if you get Valhalla you have some good fleet with good wing. Witch can act like fooder.
But remember this:
With XTRA Shippack Valhalla costs 212 mills, while Xenon I is somewhat free of charge, ofc its hardest to capture/board of all ships in the game (you need maxed out marines 5+ stars in all sections (100%)). Ofc can be reverse engeneered his cycle is around 1 day and 23 hours, but it isnt cheap.
If you get Xenon I i assure you if its equipped good you can pwn whole sector with it.
I advise you if youre using mods install XTRA shippack, my jobs file, Smart Turrets 4.4 and you wont regret.
Anyway its really up to you. Use your imagination Big grin, i know what is Pandora im using it myself.Ä‘

2 x Vidar, 6 x Xenon PX, 2 x Hyperion, 10 x Xenon LX
Xenon j Wings:
20 x Venti, 10 x Mamba, 20 Xenon LX

OSS And Sector Defence Ships:
4 x Xenon K
8 x Xenon Q
10 x Auster Hauler

Currently i have Factory Complex with pretty much everything and also PHQ and around 890 mill credits :P. 70 % those credits came from capping, boarding, assassin missions, Hold Position Missions etc.

Currently i'm playing a vanilla version of the game (no Mods yet), and i want to continue vanilla at least for some time then try Mods later. I also don't use any scripts.

You said: don't bother get the Valhalla because the vanilla one is bugged.
I didn't know that. Why? Did you try to board it? I mean what happened when you did? please help. I want that Valhalla, i love it !! Love

And hey, did you say that "Xenon I" can pwn her like a bug?, don't say that about my baby!!. Smile Now please let me explain my point:

First..., the Valhalla itself may not be the toughest ship but it's just the Command Ship (for my star force), it does not get directly into battles, it rather issues commands from a distance (i would imagine..., if there is only one type of ship that could be equiped with a Camouflage Device, (i think) it is the Valhalla type Smile)
I mean it can, of course, Jump away in case its being fired on and command its wings (one of these wings is the two Skirnirs) to take the necessary actions while its standing by.

And for me..., its all about style not just power, as i like the ATF Ships, especially the biggest one, the Valhalla, that can dock 10 corvettes plus 50 fighters, that's right?

The "Xenon I" can barrage firestorms yes this is a power, but, talking about missile barrages, lets consider that Skirnirs can barrage Shadows and Ghouls, and compare Firestorm barrages vs. Shadow barrages:

The Skirnir can launch 3 barrages every 4 seconds (3 barrages * 16 missile bays = 48 Shadows), while the "Xenon I" can only launch 1 barrage every 5 seconds (1 barrage * 3 missile bays = 3 Firestorms)

48 Shadows vs. 3 Firestorms? what?!!. You can see the difference (3.0M worth of damage for the Firestorms vs. guess what..., about 27.0M for the Shadows!).

And this is not everything yet, the Skirnir can hold 250 Shadows + 500 Ghouls in its cargo. What a power (what if two or more of them)! that could threaten an entire enemy race, not just a sector!!

So..., did you see how much power the Skirnir has? and (for my fleet) the Valhalla is its commander!!. That's why i'm interested in that Valhalla ship and so as all the ATF ships.

About barrage here youre wrong Big grin, very wrong Big grin.
When you target a ship and enter his menu you'll see missile barage "shortcut" which stops Xenon I's engines to 0 and he starts to shoot random missiles, this is NOT what ive ment Smile.
Instead:
Ship Command Console-Special-2. Missile Barrage- Choose your missile to Firestorm and you'll see: 3x 2 or something like that up to "All", i always choose 15-30, the time it had to shoot Firestorms is the same time the M7M's need to fire 30-50 Hammer's or Shadow's. Big grin
Try it yourself.
Also vanilla Valhalla has Targeting bug and odd turret placement while XTRA Valhalla (Shippack from Cadius) is fixed, ofc it cant fit to the gates but using either Jump Beacons or Advanced Jumpdrive by Cycrow fixes this.

Let me clarify more: Smile

The cool-down time for the Shadow missile is 1.33 s, but that for the Firestorm is 5.0 s. That means that, in 4 seconds, the Skirnir can barrage 3 times, but the "Xenon I" could barrage 1 time in 5 (not 4) seconds.

So to launch 12 Firestorm barrages (36 Firestorms), it could take 12*5 = 60 seconds. But to launch 12 Shadow barrages (192 Shadows), it could take only 12*1.33 = 16 seconds.
Then review the calculations above again and you will know. Banana Dance

And as you suggested, I should try XTRA Shippack from Cadius, and the Advanced Jumpdrive by Cycrow, for the Valhalla to work properly. Thanks.

Again you clarify fails dude... this is only when you fire firestorms or hammerheads (if you find them) on normal means...with the Missile Barrage command 36 firestorms are launched in less than 5 seconds, because the cooldown is removed when you use the missile barrage (any missile), why dont you see it for yourself?
Again Missile Barrage command (choosing the missile type and quantity) is the same as in M7M on Xenon I.
For example if you want to barrage missiles just go to Additional Commands choose any slot and 2. Missile Barrage, choose your target, choose firestorms for example and set quantity of missiles...Ive seen alot of people are misses this on Xenon I and it is true that it does not work as M7M but is more powerful.

I know well how to use missile barrages, and "Xenon I" can launch missile barrages (like Firestorm barrages) I already knew that, but please tell me how many missiles can be launched in one "Xenon I" barrage? (3 missiles?) and how much time is needed between one barrage and the next one (in case of the firestorm)? (5 seconds?) I don't understand!!

If that's true then, I already explained...

Anyway, I don't want to be so argumentative. So whatever the Xenon are capable of, I agree that they are very dangerous. Smile
