Well personally im not much a fan of the map viewer, because I find it removes the fun of exploring the area. I guess you did it to see what v1.3 did to the map?
the tan biome looks strange, if your saying its desert then it must go quite low. I was thinking the desert biome would be more on the surface. Also, looking at your map (in the desert biome), about half way are gray lines - are those railway lines?
You said, the light/dark areas are marble/granite biomes, is that these? or are they something else? as they look like mini-dungeon areas or something.
as for the tree, there looks like another tree ontop of it?

lol, really? fishing rods? did you catch anything? hopefully not just those golden-fishes (which I end up sticking in the bin).
did you decide to carry on with the new player? as you said you were deciding whether to use an existing character or not.

Yeah i'm still playing the same character. I started doing the fishing quest for the achievement before killing Wall of Flesh. Turns out the achievements for fishing are bugged.
As usual when I entered hardmode, I was using the Demon Scythe due to its high DPS. Sadly, when mobs have 500 - 1000 HP each the Demon Scythe is a bit on the weak side. I ended up fishing up a sword, the Bladetongue. I've never heard of it. It is an autoswinging greatsword type of weapon that shoots ichor when you hit something. Yesterday while fishing in the jungle, I got another sword called The Seedler. It is a cutlass autoswinging sword that fires explosives that split up and each piece does full damage as well. Apparently it is a drop from Plantera or you can get it by fishing.
One of the quest rewards is the Bottomless water bucket. Basically an infinite bucket of water. Makes it a lot easier to create fishing areas for quest, the enchanted sundial from crates lets you advance time once a week. You get a lot of ores from the crates also. Made two sets of hardmode armors without even digging any ore, not to mention the money from it. In expert mode you need the Well Fed buff and I am not sure but there might be new potions made from fish but I haven't checked to see if they are actually new or not. The endurance potions give you 10% damage resist, rage potions gives crit chance, one gives +20% max health, they are quite useful also.
Basically what i'm saying is that I had no idea fishing was so useful. I almost always just ignored it until it was time to fight Duke Fishron.

Seedler vs Skeletron Prime.
I am wearing Adamantite armor with warding mods on most of my accessories. Even with double health he is no match for the Seedler (killed him first try)!
It works well on The Destroyer but the DPS from its lasers is overwhelming. Since one mech boss is down, I can get life fruits from the Underground Jungle. 600HP (500HP + lifeforce potion) and 75 defense should be enough to kill The Destroyer hopefully.

geez, it definitely looks a lot harder. What's the stats of your sword? also where did you get that DPS counter? as that looks like a rather handy upgrade. How many mech bosses are there in v1.3? 3 still? just I get a bit confused with the console version which I think has 4.
shame to hear some of the achievements are bugged.
as for the bottomless water bucket, I could see that being useful. I guess there arent lava variants?

Still just 3 mech bosses. There is that new invasion event and ofc the other events were changed like eclipses and pirate invasions.
They added the final boss too. I am trying to avoid too many spoilers but it appears to be some pillars of something or the other you have to kill that spawn in your world. I don't know much about it.
Those stats:
That is while wearing full hallowed armor and some accessories though. Not sure of the base stats, would have to check the wiki. Spent around 30 plat reforging it to Legendary. It was really stubborn.
AFAIK there is no bottomless lava or honey buckets. Would be epic sweet though. I'm surprised you haven't tried it out yet. The number of little changes make it a worthwhile update IMO. Like you can buy jungle background walls now, there is dripping water/lava from ceilings (and it is craftable), many types of rope including vine ropes. Just all around good.
Forgot to add, that is one of the new accessories, the DPS meter. Accessories that display information like that now work from your inventory so you don't have to equip them anymore. I was able to combine all of the informational ones into the Cell Phone that displays all information and includes magic mirror functionality. That is the item in the number 8 slot on my hotbar in the video. Had it ready in case I needed the nurse. You can turn off the ones you don't want to see so it isn't super annoying to see like 10 lines of text up there showing stuff.

Oh, I thought they may of added Ocram to v1.3, I really dont know why they made exclusive bosses. Having a quick peek, it looks like they added quite a few new bosses (im not going to say what, or who as I only quickly flashed through them myself). As you said, its not worth spoiling.
thanks for posting the picture of Seedler. It looks pretty good. It seems to have a good knockback - which I feel gets overlooked. I had weapons that were difficult too, although sometimes you can be extremely luckily and get legendary in the first try. I guess its just luck of the draw.
I did check out v1.3 very briefly and got a few achievements. However as you said, I really need to check out properly sometime. I guess since playing it on the console, having to restart so many times has made me more hesitant, plus we been working in two's (coop mode). So restarting again, sounds a little daunting at the moment. Im also catching up with a few games too.
As for the accessories, that makes sense. Some of them didnt seem to be worthwhile of the space they take.

So i've done the eclipse, now you have to kill plantera for broken hero swords to drop. After you kill the 3 mech bosses you can get the death scythe. It is pretty good. I am just killed the golem and went to the dungeon for a little bit. I got the inferno fork fairly quickly, for some reason I thought it dropped from the demons in the underworld. It dropped from a wizard in the HM dungeon, I haven't used it though as my char is melee focused.
I still have duke fishron and events to do before going after the final boss(es). However when I look back on the progression, I am thinking the Seedler is simply too OP. I look at the terraria subreddit and people are whining about not being able to kill plantera or even the mech bosses in expert mode. The Seedler just does so much damage due to how the explosion thing works it kills every boss so far with ease.
I might switch to the terrablade if I can get a good modifier on it but even at end game it is the best weapon I have found vs everything. Maybe I am just over preparing. I don't know but the difficulty seems to have leveled off a lot.
Anyway here is the plantera kill. Was way easier than expected. I got the golem fight on my channel as well.

broken hero swords can be a bit of a pain, on the console we had like 3 or 4 eclipses and only found 1 broken sword. another time you get loads in one event. When you actually want some you can never find any.
when you said about the death scythe, I am not sure which weapon you mean either; Demon Scythe or the Death Sickle, or is there a new weapon called that in v1.3? If you mean the Death Sickle I have on the console and still havnt found anything better than that. The spinning Scythe is really good.
plantera did look quite easy, and not a lot of changes in expert mode. Are those mini-mouths new? also what was that ring of fire? does it do any damage or is it merely for effect? if so, it would probably annoy me.

Yeah it is the Death Sickle. I was about to go to bed when I was typing that and didn't feel like looking to see if it was right lol.
Yea the ring of fire is from the Inferno Potion. I got the Hotline Fishing Hook the other day and was seeing what I could catch in lava. Turns out the 2 fish in lava are only used for that potion. The ring does damage and inflicts the On Fire! debuff. I was really excited to finally get that fishing pole but there are only 3 things to catch in lava, the two fish for the potion and a high dps Obsidian Swordfish. Plus it takes ages to get a bite for some reason in lava, a bit disappointing.
The new part of Plantera i think are the mouths that come off his grabbers. He had double HP but as you can see it didn't help him much. I didn't notice anything different about the Golem though.
The eclipse event was changed so the broken hero sword only drops from Mothron after Plantera is killed. But the good thing is now there is an item to summon the eclipse on demand. It is my understanding there is a 50% drop chance for the broken hero sword from Mothron.

Oh that sounds a bit of a shame with Plantera, after Eye of Cthuthlu I was expecting a few more changes than little mouths and double health. As you said double health just means he takes longer which isnt a big deal if you can hold him and do enough damage.
I am glad they changed eclipse event, it was a bit of pain to get - as you never knew when it was going to happening (sometimes waiting ages for it to happen, then after all that not getting any broken swords).
As for the golem, thats another shame cos he could of done with a few updates. All you have to do is brick him up and then he's easy. Maybe they could of added the ability to break blocks (so its not possible to brick him up any-more).

Alright so I finally hit a wall. The final boss is quite strong. There are spoilers here.
So what you do is kill the cultist outside of the dungeon and it starts a boss fight with the Lunatic Cultist. He is fairly easy to kill. After that four pillars spawn in the world and are basically mini events when you get near them. The pillars are shielded so you have to kill tons of mobs to drop the shields then kill the pillars. If you die it retains the progress and it doesn't heal so it isn't really that bad. Once all four pillars are dead it spawns the Moon Lord.
This boss is crazy hard in expert mode. However I don't have a proper arena, i've been trying to fight him at my healing station at spawn. I don't mind dying but if you do, you have to start the entire thing over again starting by killing the cultist outside the dungeon. It is a real pain in the ass to do that. In the last update they added a way to summon him directly but the stuff you need drops from the pillars. The pillar event is quite hard actually. It surprised me. None of the mobs drop any loot either so you are just killing tons of mobs to drop the shields on the pillars. The good thing is you can actually craft some nice weapons from the pillar drops. You have to kill the Moon Lord a few times though to craft the armor unfortunately.
So yea kinda stuck on the final boss ATM. It is an interesting fight though so i'm not too sad about it. I think it is only a matter of time before I solo him so it is all good.
