What’s the point of it? I have experimented with it a bunch and can’t determine a purpose. I assumed it was some kind of stealth mode. However, even after dropping a HS and keeping temps to as close to 0 for as long as possible. The odyssey outposts, bases and NPC still seem to lock on, scan and blast away like normal. Does it do anything?

As far as PVP, most builds run fixed weapons so I can imagine it would do anything affecting PVP. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

hi there, well its supposed to lower your heat levels so you cant be scanned/seen. Often stations/npcs will lock on and scan you anyway. In the past it used to work fairly well, but nowadays its pretty useless (mostly). It lowers the odds but doesnt stop a scan (I think).

For PvP it makes it hard for gimbal/turreted weapons to track you.

It's successful use is dependent on the ship you're piloting. The more heat the ship generates the less useful it is. On my fave smuggling rig, a Dolphin, it works great. On a Type 7, which has issues with heat management it's pretty useless. Just my experience, your mileage may vary...
