I didn't do much exploration and landing on random planets, so I'm sure someone can answer me these two questions:

Are all planets you can land on rocks? I know there are water worlds and earth-like worlds, but I was not able to land on any of them that I've found. Everything else has just been rocks.

Is the galaxy really open and seamless? Can travel from say Sol to Alpha Centauri without using the frame shift drive (albeit after years or months of travel)? Because it does look and behave like a loading screen.
