Hey,
I have a question, im working on the x3ap bsg mod along with JCC (if you know what mod im talking about) and close to releasing a new update, however i was wondering whether it would be possible to add custom weapon and ammo icons? (to make it more unique!) Ive looked everywhere but i cant seem to find where either the image or object of the icons are stored, does any one know where, or whether manipulating them is even possible?

It's certainly possible, the XTC team did it for the original release of their mod. Maybe AragonSpeed on the Egosoft forums can point you in the right direction?

arent the icons in some files marked dds/gui_master or something? its been awhile
ps. JCC used to post here, however I think he misunderstood me; thinking that I told him not to post here, however I was trying to tell him the opposite (ie. he is very welcomed to post about the mod). If you cold tell him that, that would be good.

ive found that file, but im not quite understanding how it works if you see what i mean. When loaded into 3ds max it shows a flat object with a texture on it, the texture displays various icons (however i still cant see the ammo icons and i only see two of the weapon ones). So how on earth does the game interpret this? and how would i go about adding my own icons?
edit: ive just found hud_weapons2d which may be where the weapons are stored
haha ile let jcc know, simple misunderstanding, can happen to any one!
Cheers for the reply,
Miles

as for the icons, the game take them at set locations from the texture. ie. 0,0 - 16,16 might be the icon for say.. a weapon or so. I not totally sure how they are defined, but I would look at IconTypes and IconData in the types folder.
ps. thanks for letting JCC know!
