First "Big" Game for Kids?

My eldest kids are 7 and 8 and (I know I'm biased) pretty bright. We've been playing through a lot in the switch and Playstation back library (Crash, Rayman, Mario everything, Sackboy, etc).

I'm looking for suggestions for a next step in gaming for the kids - namely something with a little more story (without being FMV heavy or gory) and/or system progressions that are more complex than powerups and lives (either different builds/weapons/simple level system/etc).

Any recommendations for https://omegle.onl/ vshare something that broaches these concepts well without getting too graphic or over the top difficult? Currently considering a Pokemon title as that provided an easy entry for me waaaaaay back on the original Game Boy release; but I want to keep an open mind.

PS5/Switch/PC all fine.
