Rogueys X3AP mod?
Wednesday 22nd January, 2014 · Posted by Roguey · 0 commentsOver the past few days ive been thinking about creating a X3AP mod. But, unlike my previous mods, it wouldnt try to expand the vanilla game-play but a completely different feel. Some of my ideas include;
A new universe
Based on a cluster idea. Sectors are bunched together, meaning its safe to stay in friendly areas, but when adventuring across the map you / AI would have to be careful. A sort-of neutral-zone - filled with pirates and other dangers. There would be outposts on the way:
Ship rebalanced and classes re-sorted
A re-sort of the ships, making some more useful, whilst others making less power-ful. If possible, re-order of ship-classes M1 (biggest) to M8 (smallest) - its got too confusing now,
New shields
A re-shuffle of the list, to allow for in-between versions. This would make-way for military / unique shield variants. Maybe you would favour two x 12MJ military over 2 x 25MJ (standard) etc. as they would offer faster gen (if your ship can the extra regen required).
Laser energy fine-tuned
On small ships to force bank-switching rather than all guns fire (which is kind-of silly on M3's etc). This would be controlled by weapon regeneration. On larger ships this idea could be expanded on, allowing some ships to be good for short battles (using all their weapon-energy quickly), whilst others could have a better regen for longer battles (but fire less). This could lead to more tactical game-play.
Re-designed missiles
Since the introduction of the M7M, missiles have became spammy and over-powered. My aim would be to make missiles less powerful. This would probably lead to the removal of the missile-boat class, as I feel its abused both by the AI and human players (making normal weapons seem useless at times). Instead make player rely more on standard weapons but adding missile launchers for extra attack.
Imported stuff from my X3 Mod
Such as textures, ships, background etc.
Basically the idea is to throw away the x-universe and build something different (getting rid of some of the bad ideas in X3AP) unlike the goal of my X3-Mod. Before spending a lot of time on this idea, I want to know what is your feelings and/or is there enough interest?
Any modders, script writers, and/or MD creators would be very welcomed. As it be good if this was created with some community support.
ps. if the poll receives very few votes, I gather people are not interested or that the community as moved on. This is a project that would need a fair amount of interest.
