So I'm hoping someone out there can help me with this. I've spent too many hours trying to get this
freighter to jump on its own. I've scoured forums but come up with nothing. I'm sure someone has posted
this question before but I'm failing utterly to find it.
I'm playing X3 Reunion Vanilla Style and I'm wondering what is the absolute minimum a freighter with
a homebase set needs to be able to jump for a sell ware for best price order.
I have the freighter equipped with everything a universe trader would have with ample energy cells included.
However, it refuses to jump(I even dropped a lvl 25 pilot on the freighter just in case).
It will fly across 7 sectors and miss the sale every time.
My goal is simply to have a freighter selling off my excess silicon wafers from one of my SPP complexes,
and utilize its jump drive, without me having to do anything. It would seem like this would be a simple
task to accomplish, yet it has alluded me, as have any posts specifically related to this.
This is the first time I've posted an any forum. Ever. You could imagine what kind of frustration
would lead a man to his first ever post...
I would be ever so grateful if someone could enlighten me.
Minimum Required for Home-based freighter to jump

Sounds like your trying to use 2 different things here, CAG and a MKIII trader.
1. they arent compatible. using a lvl 25 UT then switching to CAG makes you lose the UT pilot.
2. for a CAG/CLS to use a jumpdrive it needs to be "Freighter pilot 2nd class" or higher.

Does that help?

I believe so. I started the game without the bonus pack(just downloaded it a few hours ago) and made
the assumption that a freighter with a homebase set could use its jumpdrive to sell at best price without
the bonus pack.
So, a CAG is required to use the jumpdrive in that manner then? Looks like I have some more guides to
thumb through.
Thanks a lot for your input! You've saved me from having more head/wall interactions!

Yes, a CAG is required to make homed freighters autojump. I think the reasoning behind it is that "computers are stupid", but CAG puts a named pilot in charge of your ship who, once they've gained enough experience, can figure out what the Shift+J combination does. X logic....
Anyway, CAGs are pretty simple to set up and function pretty much like a UT, but if you come across any neat guides which you find especially helpful, link them here and I will adapt them for the wiki. Also, if you're new to the bonus pack, be sure to check out the Turbo Boost which can be bought from the Split.

Thanks all!
I thought I might also add that after the CAG reached the rank of Freighter Pilot, it still refused
to jump! With a bit of searching I found a post stating that if Video Enhancement goggles are equipped,
the freighter will not jump. Dumped the goggles and I'm happy to say as of 5 minutes ago I have Jumping CAGS!
