Found a little trick today while docked at a station in my space suit.
I was looking at a mission waiting for my ship to catch back up to me, (had just done a return ship mission).
I got a taxi job rated very hard for the next sector that gave me 8hrs to complete it?
So I do the obvious and take it and completed it, thought to test this though. Commed the next station with a bulb up while outside the ship, and got another one, again with 7hrs to do it in.
Methinks the timer takes your ship into account atleast for the "cabbie" jobs when you apply for them.
The rep boost on the very hard ratings is quite nice too.
HEY TAXI!!! you got 8hrs to get me there?

I wonder what would happen if you scripted in an Orbital Weapons Platform, and took the mission from one of those.

Well I wasn't thinking of landing it. I was thinking of just accepting the mission from orbit, as the speed of zero would mess with the time on the mission. I do think that docking it would be possible though; tow within range and then use the docking computer to teleport there.
