You'd think that after operating them for generations that the Gate Guild could find Gate Keepers and Gate Operators that knew what the heck they are doing!

The worse Operators are those in the Paranid Sectors.
The number of collisions I've been in coming out of Paranid Gates is unbelievable!!!

The Split aren't much better.
They seem to have the worse time when they have reverse traffic at Border Sectors.
My small fleet is presently second behind a Terracorp freighter and it's escort M3.

I could see this kind of delay if there was a major Military fleet movement, but for a Boron M7 and then a single in-bound Split freighter!?!?

And so I wait, and wait, and wait...

I guess the flashing lights are our way of knowing, although with size and amount of ships flying through them they dont really mean much. I do think though the gates could be managed better.. even they just were bigger (with more spawn points).

They need to be like restaurant kitchen doors and have an IN/OUT side.

Also, what do you mean by the Gate Keepers? I don't remember anything like that in the guide. Is that a community invented thing?

hmmm.. what about two gates? side by side - that way it would solve the whole problem Smile

Erm, wellllll. . . . . I am a gate skater. Always ignoring the warnings of traffic with the lights, always ready to slip in past someone lining up for their run through. Driving

Never could be bothered to wait unless cruising around in a capital, and then it is a matter of bug splat on the shields if they get in the way. Oops soooooooo sorry.

And hey, if they Go nuts

then you get to collect the goods. No Siren

I came across this yesterday, and thought it would fit in well here. The Galleon is heading out, and the Brigantine just arrived coming the other way. If I had to guess then I'd say that at one point there was only metre of clearance between the two of them. If either had been only slightly wider, there would have been a nasty bang.

Amazing how you manage em.
Here I am trolling around watching a Boron thresher taskforce gate around on a patrol loop. (Funny how not split or teladi mind it going through their systems).

Not one crash and alot of clear space around it . . .
