Farnhams Legacy Plot (Page 5 of 11)
The Diplomat
So you have now built your BoFu Chemical Lab its time to see if we can improve our relationship with the Paranid. On a side note you should now see Spacelabs Headquarters will have BoFu Chemical Lab L blue-print available.Anyway, the next thing we to do is to talk to the Paranid Diplomat and see what he can do about the situation. So when ready head-over to him and tell him about your recent discoveries and the problems you have having with the Paranid. He will tell you that not every problem needs to be solved by guns;
As you are no doubt aware, not all situations can be resolved by shooting at one another. Diplomacy is sometimes called for.
It is a good way to get what you want using non-hostile means, at least most of the time.
Relations between the species in the Commonwealth are complex, you see; they have Dynamic Relations.
If you manage to enlist Agents, they can perform a variety of tasks that, among other things, can help influence those relations. You can assign an Agent to perform the same task several times in a row, to save travel time.

He will take up residence in Spacelabs Headquarters. You can not directly com him on the station, but instead use the new diplomacy menu. On your left menu, select the diplomacy option, like so;
With the new diplomacy menu up, you can assign your new diplomatic agent to an task. To do this have the agent selected and press Gather Influence. On the next screen just press ok, then tell the agent to head towards Trading Dock, in Holy Vision delta.
Once you have given this task to the agent he/she will travel to the dock and will start talks with the Paranid, so we can visit their systems and dock. This will take some time but first Hola Ni wants to talk to you (at Royal Boron Research station in The Void delta).
You tell Hola Ni that you have sent the Paranid diplomat on his way, but it will take some time. In the mean time Hola Ni has another job for you - to build an Trans-Orbital Accelerator to replace the Hyperspeed Access Point in The Void gamma. This will allow all ships to travel to the Paranid systems (Holy Vision) without the specialized equipment. Hola Ni needs the following to build the Accelerator;
- 2,850 x Energy Cells,
- 350 x Ore,
- 250 x BoFu,
You will probably find the diplomat finishes his work before you can deliver all the goods required by Hola Ni. If this is the case, head back into the diplomacy menu and select increase race notoriety from the list;
Now on the next menu select the agent, the Trading Dock in Holy Vision delta and finally press okay on the amount of influence to spend. Basically your telling your agent to spend its earnt influence on increasing your race notoriety with the Paranid. He will once again head out to the dock, then use his/her influence. This will take even longer than the first time.
So now return back to collecting the wares for Hola Ni, you must have the wares inside your cargobay for them to count (I dont think you need them all at the same time). Finally when you have delivered them all, you will get some cash (I guess that pays for the wares you had to deliver). Hola Ni wont even say thank-you, you will simply get another mission to talk Hola Ni in The Void gamma.
Once in the system talk to Hola Ni and tell him
it worked. He will say thanks, and request you have notoriety to dock at the Trading Dock in Holy Vision delta. If your diplomat has already completed his/her work then the mission will complete. You should receive the following message:
player, you should now have sufficient notoriety with the Paranid to allow you to dock at the trading station. Once there, you should contact a Paranid official named Idmanckardet who has information on how we can reach the wider gate network. The Paranid are not known for their openness, so expect resistance to the idea of sharing important information.
